Fans who have grown up watching hot-blooded action films such as "First Blood", "Terminator" and "Die Hard" have imagined that Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and others will be in college. Let's have a showdown on the screen. As early as 2010, these were only fantasies, but in 2010, Stallone turned it all into reality. That year, the feeling of this kind of thing moved all the action movie fans to tears. But when the series came to the third installment, feelings such as feelings have long been drained, and the slogan "Veterans don't die" has also become "Veterans are dead".
In fact, when a movie brings together action movie stars such as Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Jet Li, etc., there is already a lot to watch, and the plot will naturally retreat. In second place, as long as the story is well told, it's all to see the old guys shoot who cares if the script is well written, of course, the first and second parts of the series are not bad in many ways. In the first part, although Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis just came out to play soy sauce, the performance of the others was really good. Outstanding, the plot design can also be regarded as a standard action movie mode, no surprises but quite satisfactory. The second part introduced more characters while adding more supporting roles, and the performances of Jean-Claude Vandon and Chuck Norris were also remarkable, but from this part, the script was weak and aesthetic fatigue. It began to appear gradually, so that in the third part there was a collective outbreak.
Playing this kind of thing once can earn tears. Playing twice can also deceive people. After playing too much, it is not called feelings, but it is called draining the remaining value. After a series of battles, the third is exhausted. When the series reaches the third part, the requirements for maintaining the standard should not be high, but when I watched this film with anticipation, I could only sigh A "Veteran is dead". In fact, the ambition of this work is quite big. Harrison Ford, Wesley Snape, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and a group of small fresh meats have been added. Obviously, they want to create a new layout. I made a fuss about it, but the pattern is big, and the result is that the characters are all the same, and the rhythm and scenes are chaotic. After watching the whole film, you will probably only remember the excellent performance of Antonio Banderas and Jet Li. The relationship with Schwarzenegger and the action scenes that seem familiar but not new. The plot setting is far less than the first two works, just get a former teammate to come out and you can fight, and then in the end the big villain still died inexplicably. Isn't this kidding me. The shooting method still inherits the usual shaky shots and rough editing, but this is acceptable in the previous work. After all, this is what old-school action movies want, but it seems so nondescript in this work. In the last scene, I want to create a feeling of a big scene. It is indeed a big enough battle, but the shooting method is completely inconsistent with it. As a result, after watching the last scene, there will be a feeling that this is over, far less than the first scene. The scene is impressive and can be described as the epitome of the failure of the whole film.
In fact, the failure of this film can be completely avoided. First of all, it is a failure to introduce so many new people. Although it is necessary for the plot, it can be completely changed in a different way. In this way, it is not necessary to remember a few people in the whole film. In addition, the portrayal of key characters is not enough. If Terry Cruise hadn't made soy sauce, and if the portrayal of the villain Mel Gibson was more profound, then the whole film would not be what it is now, only Antonio Bandera Sri Lanka did a great job alone. Finally, if the ambition is not so great, this film does not say that it surpasses the first one, at least it can maintain the level. So to sum up, the main reason for the failure of this film is that it is too ambitious and eager to squeeze the remaining value of these old guys. Speaking of this, I can't help but feel a little embarrassed.
In fact, I have said so much. As far as I am concerned, I have feelings for these old guys. I grew up watching VCD when I was a child. Actions such as "Terminator", "Die Hard" and "First Blood" There are many classic films to watch, and "Die Hard 3" is my favorite action film. Action movies at that time didn't have too many conspiracies, and they just did it without saying much, and it was considered to be in line with the aesthetics of that generation, but today's action movies can be said to be changed by the "Bourne Bourne" series and other films, the audience Your tastes have also changed, you don’t have any big conspiracy, you don’t dare to come out and shout if you don’t have a visual spectacle. In fact, there is nothing wrong with the development of action films, and the gradual elimination of old guys is also an inevitable law of film development. So, when the old guys have been silent for a long time and come out to hang out on the big screen, it can really make us die-hard action movie fans burst into tears, but it will definitely be annoying after a long time, not to mention that every time you shake The actions are the same, more and more uninspired.
Therefore, it is inevitable that the series of The Expendables have gone from being a topical issue to being unpopular today. Of course, we can't blame the hard-working old guys, nor the audience. We can only say that the movie is changing, Audience tastes are changing, the market is changing, their era, the era of old-fashioned action films, has passed, and it’s really not good to be old-fashioned.
Soldiers don't die? That's just our wishful thinking.
