Battle Royale: Survival on an Island of Despair

If I had to define this movie, it felt like an alternative masterpiece to me. I can't find the right words to describe it, but in terms of plot, it must be shocking.
It's hard to imagine that the director is Fukasaku Shinji, who is over seventy years old, who could have made such a rebellious film in Japan 14 years ago. Although the film was banned for a while, it was still hard to hide its brilliance. As a small white fan, I was immediately impressed by the temperament this film exudes. The most intuitive viewing experience is mixed flavors, but this does not prevent me from loving this film. Because I was fascinated by psychology at one time, I especially like to study the psychological state of actors, so as to better understand the charm of the storyline.
From the perspective of professional appreciation, the film's narrative, dramatic conflict is in place. Forty-two students, such a huge group of students, crammed into one play. But I don't feel any violation, and the director's scheduling skills are evident. In addition, the young actors are worthy of admiration. Faced with the complex human nature of the characters, most people can interpret so wonderfully, and it is really difficult for them.
In fact, the most outstanding thing is the plot. A good script needs a good director, and Fukasaku Shinji is not a vain name. Risking the world's upheaval, I chose to shoot this sensitive subject. Youth and violence, there is no shortage of related themes in the world, but the director has made a wonderful fusion. Anti-gore with gory stories, uncharacteristically. Many people may remember the bloody scenes, but I remember the terrifying hearts. I have always felt that the best thing in the world is the human heart, and the most vicious one is the human heart. Mitsuko Soma in the film confirms an old Chinese saying: the most poisonous thing is the heart of a woman. However, I appreciate such people, because such people can quickly gain a firm foothold in society. In that environment of the weak and the strong, her ability to quickly adjust her positioning and her will to survive has never allowed her to retreat. Even if she faced the number one killer Kiriyama Kazuo, she was unafraid and moved forward bravely. It is unbelievable that a weak woman burst out with such a strong energy in a desperate situation. If Kiriyama hadn't put on a bulletproof vest beforehand, I'm afraid he would have become her dead soul.
When it comes to the role of Kiriyama, it is extremely brilliant. Every time he appears, it becomes a nightmare for others. But as the number one killer, he didn't have a single line. His taciturnity is creepy. Several gloomy smiles have become a signal of death for others. Every time he appeared, it would make people breathless. He is the purest person in the movie who enjoys killing people. As an aside, if I unfortunately participated in the battle royale, I would rather meet Kazuo Kiriyama than Mitsuko Soma.
In the overall atmosphere of "Battle Royale", there is a trace of negativity, but at the same time there is hope. Whether it is the father of Qiyuan, Mr. Kitano, the couple who committed suicide, etc. When we face many problems, we expose our incompetence. All human suffering is essentially anger at one's own incompetence. In such a predicament, we may be unable to extricate ourselves. But as the end of the movie makes clear, it's fine to go anywhere, as long as you have hope and give it your all. Even if you are in a difficult situation, you will not give up hope and always encourage yourself. Then you must be able to escape and run to the end of happiness.
