Revenge is sweet medicine

Since none of the recent sci-fi remakes are very good, my initial expectations for RoboCop were very low. Perhaps it is this kind of low expectations that has created my five-star evaluation of this film today (is this contrast cute...).
The main tone of the film is a conflict of absolute rationality/relative sensibility and a (two?) revenge.
Contrary to Japan's preference for expressing "no feelings -> feelings" from a machine's point of view, Laomei mostly likes to think about "feelings vs no feelings" from a human point of view. To be honest, this way has been played badly. For me, the pinnacle work is "I, robot", and I cried a few times. In this work, the soul of this conflict is actually Curry, oh no, Gary Oldman. In him I saw at the same time a scientist's rationality, ruthlessness, and curiosity towards an experimental subject, and a man's empathy towards another. It can be said that his transformation in the second half of the plot (thought darkly) was actually forced by the Scorpion King and Rorschach. You are all going to stand up for me, and I will not kill you with Murphy!
On the other side of this conflict, the Scorpion King, Rorschach, and Samuel Jackson (the news that runs through the show is a masterpiece!) uphold the instrumental rationality itself, and I agree with the plot aside. It's just that in order to create such a cold-hearted and ruthless image in the movie, this reason is deliberately overridden over emotions, which violates people's free will and joins all kinds of deceitful behaviors. I believe that one day, when we can add enough state machines to machines, we can completely replace most of the professions in society. The input and output of many living people in our society are actually very simple, and their inner world is very empty.
Let's go back to revenge. The plot of this work feels very short to me, a bit like the first American team. Thirty minutes of space is placed before the transformation, and forty minutes is placed in the "adaptation period" after the transformation. Only the last thirty minutes are less than the feature, and the entire feature is about revenge. Revenge is one of men's favorite themes, being robbed and stabbed in the back; encountering a master, the martial arts is unparalleled; In such a process, the anger keeps accumulating, and then it is vented all at once. If OOXX is a physical pleasure, then revenge is a psychological pleasure. When you pour bullets on the enemy, when you finally rip off his smug face, that's what it feels like. . Like sweet medicine, even if it is poisonous, I am willing to take it.
Finally, I want to mention Gary Oldman again. It was really fun to watch him perform! I feel like I'm about to bend. . .

(In Crater Lake) The focus of the movie is unclear. About machine and human nature, the hegemony of big companies, and the United States itself, everything is said a little bit, but everything is not the point, and how can such a heavy machine power supply last so long? It's buggy all over the place to run in a normal car (I just can't ignore this). The hero's lungs and brain are refreshing, and that's it

This kind of plot itself determines that there is not much room for innovation. Only the so-called "safety" concept promoted by Samuel Jackson is tried to arouse thinking, and then the family card is played. Basically, there are no internal and direct conflicts. It's too intense, and the special effects, an important component of sci-fi action films, basically belong to the rhythm of game masters playing computer people, and the strength comparison is completely unbalanced.

RoboCop quotes

  • Dr. Dennett Norton: He suffered 4th degree burns over 80% of his body. Lower spine has been severed. If he survives, he'll be paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. Mrs. Murphy, we... we don't have to do this.

Clara Murphy: I need to know everything before I make a decision. Please continue.

Dr. Dennett Norton: Vestibulocochlear, optical nerves have been critically damaged. He'll be blind in one eye. Most likely deaf.

Dr. Alan: Frankly, Dr. Norton and the Omni Foundation are the leaders in this field. In my opinion, this is the only chance your husband has. I'd seriously consider their offer.

Clara Murphy: I'm sorry, Doctor. I need time to think.

Liz Kline: I'm afraid, Mrs. Murphy, time is one thing you don't have.

Clara Murphy: You said you could save him, but what does that mean? What kind of life will he have?

  • Raymond Sellars: Alex, we need to work together here, because I'm the only one with the technology to keep you alive.

RoboCop: Dead or alive, you're coming with me.
