dark

After watching, I can't help feeling that such a classic movie actually relies on an impeccable script. As a detective suspense film, this film is definitely a textbook-level model. The story is not at all procrastinating, the plot is constantly ups and downs, and always arouses the emotions of the audience. The settings of many shots and scenes have also promoted the development of the plot very well. The portrayal of the characters is gradual, and people have a strong sense of identity.
As a classic noir film, although the dark ending of the movie is very cruel, it did not give me a breath of shock and shock. Instead, my heart slowly fell into the boundless darkness and unable to extricate myself. Because under the excellent plot of the film, the ending of the film should be unexpected but reasonable. However, the connotation conveyed by this film that seems to be a little negative but can warn the world has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Up.

The film is hailed as one of the best scripts of the last century, and it really lives up to its reputation. The suspense is created, the rhythm is intertwined, and the characters' personalities and bizarre answers are so perfectly combined, smooth and without any Disharmonious.

cherchez la femme. (!!!!!!!) It’s really fried...this is the LA in my heart! The fly in the ointment is that the male lead's casting is a bit flawed (please don't have any PI/strips that are so ugly boots in Jack Su's noir story). I guess Zhan Shen watched this film in the theater during his wandering years, and further developed his perverted style.

Chinatown quotes

  • Jake Gittes: Hello, Claude. Where'd you get the midget?

  • Lt. Escobar: You must really think I'm stupid, don't you, Gittes.

Jake Gittes: I don't think about it that much, but gimme a day or two and I'll get back to yuh. Now I'd like to go home.

Lt. Escobar: I want the other pictures, Gittes.

    Jake Gittes: What pictures?

Lt. Escobar: THIS broad hired you, not Evelyn Mulwray.

    Jake Gittes: Yeah?

Lt. Escobar: Yeah. Somebody wanted to shake Mulwray down; she hired you. That's how come you found out he was murdered.

Jake Gittes: I heard it was an accident.

Lt. Escobar: C'mon, Gittes. The hell d'you think you're dealing with? A bunch of assholes? Mulwray had salt water in his lungs. You were following him day and night; you SAW who killed him. You even took pictures of it. It was Evelyn Mulwray, and she's been payin' you off like a slot machine ever since.

Jake Gittes: You accusin' me of extortion?

    Lt. Escobar: Absolutely!

Jake Gittes: I don't think I need a day or two; you're dumber than you think I think y'are.
