Whoever wrote the screenplay had a very good idea and intention. The classic fairy tales are always black and white, good vs. evil, love at first sight, the happily ever after, to name a few. This was a story told by the supposedly “Evil” fairy, the one who cursed Aurora to eternal sleep unless kissed by true love, we learned that her name is Maleficent, and she is a very powerful fairy with beautiful and strong wings. As her story unfolded, one can't stop noticing the predictability, as almost all Disney/Pixar movies have, but considering their target audience, a certain level of predictability is actually reassuring.
We watch the innocence lost, the betrayal and the heart being broken, the revenge, the seemingly impossible love and bond that formed, and the triumph of good over evil in the end. It is not the best of movies, but was certainly enjoyable, and some scenes were so visually stunning that one can not stop the urge of imagining oneself being in the world depicted on the screen.
