I was a little embarrassed when I first watched it, I don't know if this kind of film suits my taste; I was fascinated by it. While reading it again, I wondered what the theme of "Brothers Company" was? There is heroism. As the sharp knife company of the 101st Airborne Division of the elite troops, E Company does have enough bravery, and the film also gives a strong depiction; but the heroism is soaring at first, and it is diluted in an instant: experience After the glorious victory of the Normandy landing, E Company received a warm welcome from the local residents with an orange flag when it entered the Netherlands. Soldiers and tanks traveled leisurely and swiftly across the beautiful fields full of flowers. However, it was hit by the Germans head-on. After suffering huge losses, the Allied forces retreated hastily. However, the brothers of E Company once again showed their bravery and wit. After regrouping, they won by surprise and caught the Germans by surprise. But the soul of E Company, Company Commander Winters, encountered a young German soldier in the process. The boy raised his head and smiled at him innocently, but Winters shot him. This incident caused deep anxiety in Winters's heart and became his nightmare. Even during his vacation in Paris, it was troubled and cannot be forgotten. The film seems to have begun to reflect on the war at this time. In the subsequent Battle of Bastogne, the film focused on describing the harsh environment of Bastogne and the mental and physical damage brought to the soldiers by the brutal war. However, after Bastogne, the hero's E Company has not participated in any large-scale battles. In the eighth episode, Webster, a soldier returning from injury, describes an absurd patrol for the main line. Then E Company entered Germany, and the atmosphere became unprecedentedly relaxed, even boring. The soldiers were sneaking and drinking, drinking and drinking MM, anxiously waiting for the day of disarming and returning to the field, but due to not enough points, most people only entered the seemingly indefinite waiting...
At this point in the film, it seemed a bit too loose, but at this time, the finishing touch of the film appeared: they went to accept the surrender of a German general. During the surrender, the German general gave an impassioned and emotional speech to his soldiers in German. (At this time, I suddenly realized that German is really suitable for speaking. Changing to English is definitely not so sonorous.) Soldier Liebgott translated:
"Men, it's been a long war, it's been a tough war. You've fought bravely, proudly for your country. You're a special group. You've found in one another a bond, that exists only in combat, among brothers. You've shared foxholes, held each other in dire moments. You've seen death and suffered together. I'm proud to have served with each and every one of you. You all deserve long and happy lives in peace. ”
They listened to the German general's speech. At first, they had a deliberately hostile and contemptuous expression, but soon they were also deeply infected. These words not only touched the hearts of the soldiers, but also touched the soul of the whole film of "The Brotherhood"—the brotherhood formed in the fire. They come from different places, have different growth environments and family backgrounds, and have different personalities and thoughts. If they meet in peacetime, they may not necessarily become friends. But since becoming a member of E Company, they have supported and relied on each other in training and battle. They have shared victory, frustration, fear and sorrow. Together, they face incompetent officers and absurd peaks. Experienced post-war confusion and renewed understanding of war and enemy forces. They have accumulated deep understanding and feelings in it, and this feeling may not have been experienced and perceived without life and death.
This is the so-called "Band of Brothers"-Band of Brothers.
