the original novel of the movie is so cool that the adapted movie can't catch up with it.
I read the original novel when I was in school,
and it was pretty cool for 80s science fiction.
So I rate the movie on that scale, and it has to work very hard to be worthy of the original.
Let’s talk about what’s not cool about the movie:
1. The protagonist is not cool enough. The
movie didn’t introduce the setting in the novel well: Family planning is only allowed to have two children, but the first two children of the protagonist’s family have extraordinary intelligence but have personality flaws, so an exception is made. Quasi-third child, that is to say, the mission of the protagonist being born is to be a commander in the future. The plot in the movie is about a little boy who is afraid of his elder brother and attached to his elder sister and becomes the savior of mankind step by step through his own efforts.
Maybe such values may be more mainstream, but the sense of fate of this predestined hero is gone.
In addition, the plot in the movie that deliberately highlights the wisdom of the little protagonist makes it seem that he is just playing tricks.
2. The core plot in the original
book was lost. In the novel, a lot of ink was used to describe the complex emotions between brothers and sisters. In the movie, it seemed that I wanted to talk about it, but it was not in place. Of course, it may be that I was afraid of talking too much and grabbing the scenes of the sequel.
3. The novel itself may not be suitable to be made into a blockbuster. The
original novel and its sequels discuss very philosophical things. Maybe because of this, the commercial films made are a bit nondescript: I want to make sense, but I am afraid that the audience will run away. .
Well, the point is I don't think these new actors have a star likeness.
Wish I was a crow mouth.
