I don't know if the background of this movie matches, but I know that at one time, Hollywood made movies to get people in the context of World War II out of the harsh reality. Movies are used to create dreams, just like the name of the famous studio - "Dream Factory".
Later, in the prosperous era, people's material life is getting better and better, but they are less and less happy. People began to reflect on various problems in the commercial society, and more and more profound works appeared, reminding us of the only choice: numbness or sobriety. Even comedy is mixed with irony and helplessness.
So, watching "Song in the Rain" is really mixed feelings.
I remember in "Killer Leon", the ruthless Leon finished his work and sat alone in an empty movie theater, watching the men dancing in the rain. On his face, there was a simple and excited smile like that of a child. This smile has always stayed in my heart.
It's a joyous movie that requires a pure heart to enjoy. Today, I live up to it, because my heart is too mixed. I hope, ten years later, maybe twenty years later, I can re-taste its taste with a heart that has been cleansed of lead.
