Hong Sang-soo's insight

This is a movie about the enlightenment, to be precise, the enlightenment of Hong Sang-soo. The first two stories ask questions, the latter one is for a Zen master to give the answer. In fact, the problem with the first two stories is pervasive in all Hong Sang-soo's films, namely people who lie, and life that doesn't feel happy. Why do people always lie? Why don't people feel happy all the time? Hong Sangxiu drinks his soju every day and thinks about these questions. The answer he finally came up with is: people lie because they can do nothing; people can't feel happiness because they lie. Hong Sang-soo has penetrated his life, so he can be like this now. A story that many people are eager to chew on is still unfinished.
The French female director is resistant to her former lover, and can't even remember the two of them kissing. It can be seen that this Korean is 100% just a friend in her mind. Met the lifeguard, no love either, just sat in his tent on a whim for a while. This is further proof of their relationship in the Eastern mind, but this French woman doesn't take it seriously in front of others. Falling flowers are intentional, flowing water is ruthless. It's just that he left a letter when he said goodbye at the end, and the lifeguards couldn't understand it at all. This is what Hong Sang-soo really means. An experience in life has passed so ignorantly, leaving ignorant memories. If she didn't lie and tell everyone that she had a moment when she felt a little bit about this man, wouldn't this man be so ignorant?

The dream of the young woman waiting for her lover was not just a dream, but a projection of reality. When two cheating people come together, there are bound to be no stumbling blocks, because what you are dishonest to others reflects that you may be dishonest to everyone else. Doubt, suspicion, quarrels have become commonplace, even dreams are quarrelling, where does happiness still exist?

The abandoned young woman fell in love with the lifeguard in grief and left immediately, it was just a form of revenge or venting, so nothing was left for him, as long as his heart was satisfied. This dishonesty left the lifeguard with a dream-like ignorance, sitting by the tent puzzled because he didn't know whether what was happening was in a dream or in reality.

Hong Sangxiu is already a master in my heart, because his thinking about people starts from an oriental perspective and finally connects with the humanity of all mankind.
