"The Wicked Girl of New York"

In the ending, Cate Blanche was in a daze in the blue moon of "the song I forgot the lyrics". I didn't understand this line, so I went to the original song:

was originally the theme song of the film, but it was changed to a pure instrumental version.
As for the lyrics, after checking it out, there really is something out there: this is a word about not being lonely anymore.
Molly had forgotten the lyrics of the song, the metaphor of not being alone anymore; her downfall on the park bench paired with this line is truly a stroke of genius.
This tactic reminds me of another Woody movie, Bullets Over Broadway. The people in the play praised the beauty of the sunset in New York, but the camera shot only the faces of the actors, without a shadow of the sun. This move foreshadows the plot, metaphorizing the sweet words of the bad guy like the sun that only hears its voice, that is, "lie"! This movie is also my favorite movie, it is worth watching.

Back to this film.

Cate Blanchett will probably rely on this film to nominate this year's statuette.
The essence of her performance in this film has surpassed the position originally given to her by director and screenwriter Woody Allen. It's rare that the level of acting goes beyond the level of the plot, not to mention in the old Woody script that is famous for the story level for half his life! You can see Kate's greatness.

The director of the film is the familiar Woody Allen, and the background of the story is New York, which is familiar to Woody Allen fans.
After watching more than a dozen of his films, "Blue Jasmine" is a little different. In order to create a "New York Wicked Girl" with all his heart, the old Woody movies must be laughing off.
For example, in the scene of Kate crying with her best friend about her husband's affair, if it were in the past, how could the screenwriter pass up this great opportunity? He must have talked about how his husband stalled, and then pointed his finger and bit his ear and said that all the waiters who poured the water had already served him, leaving the waiters and the audience who couldn't laugh or cry.
The harlequin who tells jokes doesn't come on stage, and there's no room for jokes to lubricate, which is probably one of the two reasons why this movie is not so well-recognized by audiences as a Woody Allen series.
As for another reason, of course, Cate Blanche's super-standard acting skills forced to death the exquisite script that could have been less heavy on the interpretation of the actors.

Jasmine is undoubtedly a "wicked girl".
She despises her sister's job as a packer (lower class!),
wants to restart her life but is unwilling to bend her back (low job!), is
eager to hang a betrayal and deceives her life (low society!);
her ex-husband cheated He committed suicide after being imprisoned. He was riddled with
scandals, but he did not repent. He
dragged down the marriage of his sister and brother-in-law, and
he was full of lies.
So,
is it evil enough?
Bad enough?
The conclusion has been seen.
But this kind of story, through the contrast of time and space, gradually unfolds into a point of view that is no longer unified.
The audience clearly understands her habit of hiding her ears and deceiving
herself ; and then through Jasmine's self-talking anxiety disorder performance (actually, it is performed to the audience),
and her helplessness relying on her relatives without being confused.

Jasmine is still a "wicked girl", and the ending shows that Jasmine is the culprit who destroyed her relatives in a major reversal. It also expresses that Woody has no intention of covering up her sinful evaluation with the vulgar theories about the diversity of human nature.
However, "Blue Jasmine", a show "The Tragic Ending of the Wicked", allows the audience to experience a little: There are hundreds of reasons for the tragedy of life, even for villains.

Cate Blanche alternates in Jasmine's life as a lady, wife, madness, unemployment, and many aspects of self-deception, so rich in layers, without her superb performance, Jasmine's pitiful and hateful qualities would not be so good .

It's not the best Woody script, and it's
not the best Christmas movie of the year,
but it's definitely Cate Blanchett's long-term breakthrough that's far better and better than The Hobbit.

A very interesting movie, the story is simple but not monotonous, and the excellent characterization makes the whole film look so bright. Especially the hateful and cute heroine created by Cate, acrimonious, ignorant and arrogant, and pretentious and arrogant. When she loses everything around her, her tragic self-talking look, a lively human world. Tragedy, but people can't help but snicker-she herself has molded herself into such a great joke.

Ah, my goddess, my queen, ruined like this by a long-winded director I don't like. In order to win an award, how can you drop your identity to this point. My heart is broken. Really won't love again. 7.2/10.

Blue Jasmine quotes

  • Dr. Flicker: Have you ever gotten high on nitrous oxide?

    Jasmine: No.

Dr. Flicker: It would remove your inhibitions.

Jasmine: I don't really have any inhibitions.

  • Jasmine: Can you please not fight in here? I don't think I can take it. For some reason, my Xanax isn't kicking in.
