Ripley kills Dickey because he's in love with someone who doesn't love him. Kill Pete again, because Pete loves him so much. Pete is not helpless, he has discovered Ripley's secret. He was just blinded by love. Love always makes people less vigilant.
One of my favorite movies I've ever seen.
Don't fall in love with someone who has too many secrets. When he gives you the key it means you are taking a risk. And if he keeps hiding his secrets, you'll be jealous and wonder if the love is genuine.
A persistent lover is a mistake, pushing everyone who falls into it to the edge of the cliff step by step.
