The film travels in two time and space, and explains the life of his mother Nawal Marwan through the journey of the twins to find their roots. Nawal was born in the Middle East. When he was young, he had a dark relationship with his lover. He wanted to fly away together, but was caught by his relatives and his lover was shot. She later joined a militant group, was arrested in an assassination attempt, spent fifteen years in prison, and was brutally raped in prison. In short: Nawal's life was as miserable as it was going to be.
After watching the movie, my heart is heavy. Thinking of [Before the Rain] I watched before, I don't understand why there are so many rigid etiquette and hatred in the world. If Nawal can keep her eldest son, or if she doesn't join a militant group, the story could be completely rewritten. However, in a country where the sky is full of war, it is better to swallow these "ifs", because fantasy is useless, and survival is the most important thing!
I appreciate that the twins can accept (at least on the surface) that fate played such a big joke on them, and thank them for not cursing their mother after knowing the truth. Some people always feel that their parents must be saints and not have the slightest fault, but in fact, parents are also flesh and blood people, and they should not be too demanding.

I am very happy to be able to watch this movie with a few movie friends. Being able to chat with like-minded friends is a great joy in life.
