reflect on ourselves

In fact, writing a movie review is not about watching this movie dozens of times, since quantitative changes will not cause qualitative changes. Everyone's feelings after watching the same movie are different. I don't like to read movie reviews before watching a movie, it will make other people's ideas follow me all the time. This kind of preconceivedness prevents me from having a completely my own movie experience.

"Carrie the Witch"--------a movie that makes us reflect on ourselves. I don't think it's a horror movie. I was very interested when I saw the cover before, and I learned a few days ago that this movie has also been remade. I don't expect to surpass it, I just hope to have a new experience.

Everyone has at least one Carrie in their life. Carrie doesn't have to be a girl, it can be a boy. Gender doesn't really matter, because Carrie is an obscure ugly duckling. There are people like this in every class. They don't have a single friend and are often bullied. Maybe we are Carrie, maybe we are his/her bullies, maybe we are indifferent bystanders.

At the beginning of the film we see a group of energetic girls, and the camera finally turns to Carrie in the corner. While she was taking a bath, she was frightened by the blood flowing down her thigh and called for help from other girls. In exchange, they were insulted and ridiculed by others. Carrie's mother did not tell Carrie what menarche was. Carrie had a mother who was addicted to religion. Not only did he not comfort her, but he also punished her. Carrie, who grew up in such an environment, is kind, although she has low self-esteem.

Some say the climax of the movie begins when she is splashed with pig blood. I think it should be when she dances with the boy she likes. Carrie was so beautiful back then, as if they were the only two left in the world. The boy vaguely fell in love with Carrie. I'm so engrossed in this beauty that I wish the movie was over. That way Carrie wouldn't be hurt the most. At that moment, Carrie had only despair and hatred in her eyes. People's mocking faces are magnified, and Carrie uses her superpowers to kill everyone. Including distressed her female teacher who took care of her. When Carrie recovered, she realized that she had killed those people. She wanted to go home, to be comforted by her mother. But he didn't expect his mother to kill him. The story behind it is unbearable to recall. We don't know how many times we'll die if Carrie around us has superpowers. Don't say you haven't bullied, because watching and laughing is no better than bullying.

The film also attracted me to the way of shooting. The last girl who survived went to see her at Carrie's house, which made me think she walked strangely. That part actually made the actors walk backwards. Sissy Spike's acting also adds a lot to the movie.

Hopefully, for those who haven't seen it, I didn't have a lot of spoilers.

Carrie quotes

  • Tommy Ross: [points to a humiliated Carrie after the pig's blood is spilled on her; his voice is blocked out but viewers can clearly read his lips and tell that he is upset and shouting] WHAT THE HELL?

  • Margaret White: He's not coming.

Carrie: He is coming, Mama. Now stop it. I'm nervous enough.

Margaret White: No, he's not coming. He's not gonna come.

    [scratches her own face]

    Carrie: Go away!

    [Margaret slaps herself]

    Carrie: Stop it, Mama!

    [Margaret pulls her own hair]

    Carrie: Stop hurting yourself, Mama!

Margaret White: He's gonna laugh at you. They're all gonna laugh at you!

Carrie: No one's gonna laugh at me, Mama.

Margaret White: Stay here with me.

Carrie: I don't want to stay here with you, Mama. Now sit down and be quiet.

Margaret White: I'll go downstairs, I'll answer the door. I'll tell him that you're sick. I'll tell him that you changed your mind.

Carrie: [forces Margaret onto the bed] SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET!

Margaret White: [gets up from the bed] Listen, I'll tell him that you changed...

Carrie: [forces Margaret onto the bed again] SIT DOWN! Just sit there, Mama, and don't say a word until I'm gone. I'll be home early. I love you, Mama.

    [she leaves]

Margaret White: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
