The Southwest War (Japanese: せいなんせんそう, February-October 1877), also known as: the Southwest Campaign, the Southwest Campaign, and the Southwest Incident. It is now Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Oita and Kagoshima prefectures in Japan The uprising launched by the gentry with Takamori Nishigo as their leader in the area was also the last civil war in Japan.
After Xixiang returned to Kagoshima in 1873 (the sixth year of the Meiji era), Daxing educated, recruited children, and assembled a large group of like-minded people.
As a major opposition group to the government after the Meiji Restoration in Japan, Takamori Nishigo never obeyed the orders of the new Meiji government. His private schools and Itagaki's Rishisha are both anti-government organizations and the two major hostile forces of the restoration.
After the Shenfenglian Rebellion, Xixiang was in a situation where he had to raise an issue, so he launched an attack in February 1877 in the name of "the side of the Qing emperor". It lasted August, causing nearly 30,000 casualties on both sides and spending more than 40 million yuan in military expenses.
The end of the Battle of the Southwest also represents the official end of the Fallen Sects since the Meiji Restoration.
