Faust Фауст (2011)

The film won the Golden Lion Award at the 68th Venice Film Festival in 2011.

The film is based on the famous play "Faust" by German dramatist Goethe. Usually, after a movie, I will retell the main plot that exists in my mind, which will help to recall the movie when I look back on it later. But for this film, I really can't think of any substantive plot for me to retell, so I can only use the online introduction to "Faust" instead of the plot summary, which is actually just one sentence: Dr. Faust seeks The meaning of life, under the temptation of the devil, exchanged his soul for its help, experienced various stages and changes such as lust, joy, pain, wandering, etc. At the last moment of life, in the struggle with nature, I realized The purpose of life is to fight for life and freedom.

Why can't I remember the plot? Because the film doesn't have a regular story at all, and I didn't understand most of the dialogue and scenes in the film. Therefore, I can only blame my lack of knowledge and limited skills, and I cannot appreciate such great masterpieces and movies. Such a broad and profound film masterpiece should be left to professional film critics or film scholars.

Of course, from another point of view, this film is also a bad film. Because the director is too selfish, he made a film that only a few people can understand, and it is a self-appreciation work that is simply not suitable for ordinary people to appreciate. The director has probably forgotten that the film is for the general public. Although art films can be obscure and ugly, they should at least be understandable and allow the audience to understand the content of the film. In other words, if the movie is made like this, it is better not to watch it, it is a waste of time. If you really want to understand "Faust", it is better to read the book!

Therefore, this film made me find the feeling of watching "Last Year in Marienbad" again - sleeping from the beginning to the end. There are quite a few movies that make people sleepy, and I basically rewatch such movies the next day, but this movie actually made me sleepy when I rewatched it! It's amazing! Therefore, some directors in the world are refreshing the "hypnosis index" of movies again and again. There is no most boring, only more boring, no most sleepy, only more sleepy! Interestingly, there are only two such films in my mind, and they are both winners of the Golden Lion, one is this film and the other is "Last Year at Marienbad" in the 26th.

As for the movie itself, I really have nothing to say. The gray images, the slanted shots, the incomprehensible dialogue, the dirty sets made me more and more sleepy. The theme of the film is obvious, just like the introduction on the Internet. That is to say, about a man's psychological change process, and finally abandoned the devil and chose the light. Hey, isn't this the main theme of modern movies? It turns out that no matter how obscure and ugly a movie is, it cannot escape the framework of the "main theme of society".

Lastly, the actors. I'm not familiar with all the actors in this film, but Anton Adasinsky, who plays the devil, is superb, and he plays a weird character very real and unforgettable. The only woman in the film to watch is Isolda Dychauk, who plays the teenage girl. However, her appearance is not beautiful, just young. Others will not say much, and they are not familiar with the protagonist.

in conclusion. This is a movie that is not for normal human beings, and has gone beyond the comprehension of ordinary people. I really admire the judges of the Venice Film Festival, how persevering!

I was fortunate to see this film in the cinema that has not been bought by any distributor in the United States. The picture and the girl are really beautiful. The wonder of nature, it turned out to be filmed in Iceland. Many parts are compressed and obliquely blurred (as if the lens is covered with a plastic bag), presumably to separate the different perspectives of people and souls. [Changed to five stars after subtitle translation]

Does the soul exist? Where does it exist? The one-to-one square footage is fantastic! ! How to shoot. . The color of the filter is good. I like the yellowish and white hazy dare of the girl in the close-up, but when the lens is tilted, I thought I was looking at the gun version! Some shots are a bit heavy. .
