become who you want to be

Lucas was a girl, but he wanted to be a boy, and he worked hard for it, making lists, working out, taking testosterone, and sharing experiences with people like her on the Internet to cheer each other up. So at the beginning of the film, it is difficult to distinguish between males and females, and only by seeing the ugly and abrupt breasts can you be sure that Lucas is a girl.

There are also some side portraits of Lucas in the film. When she was a girl, she followed behind her best friend, and her best friend was sociable. She was like a big sister, but Lucas was obviously not sociable and a little cowardly. Inferiority, his girlfriend told him to go to the party, and he also wore several layers of thick and timid (also to cover his chest), and when he got to the place, he backed away, and the whole person could not let go. When you go out to play with people in the boys' dormitory, you have to ask your best friend to accompany you. It can be seen from Lucas's character that he was not valued and unconfident when he followed such a girlfriend in the past. So when he was praised as a boy for being handsome, being taken seriously, and being taken to a gay bar, it made him excited, and he proudly told his girlfriend all this, and when he talked about the gay bar, he said: "They Girls are not allowed in." When his girlfriend said that he had changed and no longer cared about her as much as before, he didn't see his own problem, but said that his girlfriend was jealous. (I have to say that the male protagonist is really good, and the performance is really well-matched. If he is not confident, he can't let go when he walks, and when he runs, he looks like a masculine girl instead of being completely male or female. The whole behavior, eyes, and words can be interpreted. It's great!)

So I guess Lucas firstly yearns to be a boy mentally, and secondly, he hopes to become a boy to change the status quo of his life, so that he can gain the happiness of being affirmed and loved by more people.

In fact, when Lucas is a boy's face he gets some affirmation, meets Faobi who makes him infatuated, hesitant, eye-to-eye, deep kiss... This is Lucas self-acceptance, Faobi The process of accepting for love, and we bystanders accepting all forms of love.

This scene is really touching, moved by love.

The last scene is Lucas, who has transformed into a man, running freely on the seashore. The open environment, the mild sunshine, the person with the chest held high and the smile are all fixed at the best moment. This is the best future.

I think the film has a lot of problems too. From the last scene to the last scene, there is still something unfinished. In fact, after Lucas boy dressed up, he felt like a timid girl. He was still immature, always thinking about himself and not caring about his girlfriend's sadness. I beat my little sister... I just changed the appearance, but the character problem didn't change, it looked thin, and the growth was not deep enough. So when you look at it, you will feel a little confused. Many people can't understand why he is transgender, and he still loves boys after being transgender. Some people hate his selfish, lowly, and cowardly character. These are all poorly portrayed.

Changing his outer appearance can only change some superficial things, while the fundamental things, the things that need to be changed fundamentally, are his heart.

The best thing is: he wants to be a boy; he loves boys; in addition to training his own muscles, he also works hard to cultivate his heart to make it strong and become a real man who is responsible, neither humble nor arrogant, mature and wise. And these are three separate things.

Did the little sister, the classmates in the dormitory, his friends and more really accept these? It would be better if this part was added at the end of the film.

Overall, it is still a very good film, I feel what the director said, "I hope to tell everyone through this film how a young man should be brave to live the life he wants, and how people's pursuit of happiness is related to Desire."

May we all be who we want to be.
