Learn to love, learn to say goodbye

Mickey is a typical epitome of modern urbanites, with a busy life, habitually chasing time in order to maintain a job, and even sacrificing the company of his lover, never having the opportunity to think about whether this is the life he wants. Murray said that Mickey was afraid to talk about death and never knew how to say goodbye, so why not himself. Classmates from elementary school, junior high school, and high school experience parting. Even if there are more ceremonies, commemorative books, and phone numbers exchanged, time goes by with the wind. There are so many experiences like this, and I feel a little afraid in my heart. When we meet a friend who is close to us, a teacher who we admire again, or a city we like again, the roulette of life is constantly turning, and we will eventually face parting, and we will end up with the person we cherish the most. People or places to say goodbye.
Even if it makes sense, I still feel sorry for Morrie's so-called goodbye. Yes, the end of life will not block our feelings and memories. If Mickey never goes back to see Morrie, he will not make up for the regret of breaking his trust. Will hear valuable life lessons and not even get a chance to say goodbye to Morrie. But when Morrie passed away, everyone who loved him read the poems he loved and tried to smile, but couldn't help but cry.
Perhaps what Morrie wants to say is that since people are mortal, they must live wonderfully, live in peace, and love everyone around them with all their heart and make them feel loved. Minimize regret, reduce anxiety, and be the most authentic and ideal version of yourself. Even if your life comes to an end, even if you cry in fear in the middle of the night, when the sun comes out, you will not regret your life’s journey when you look back on it. I will not be disturbed, I feel that I have been loving and being loved all the time, then I may still be reluctant to give up, but at least I can say goodbye without regrets.

Tuesdays with Morrie quotes

  • Morrie Schwartz: Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too - even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling.

  • Morrie Schwartz: When you're in bed, you're dead.
