before ten officially announced at Oscar In the next hour, let's make a bold prediction that this film is very likely to become the best film of this session. Apart from the two nominated films, "The Line of Happiness" and "Django Unchained", which I haven't had time to watch yet, I watched them one by one in the past two weeks. "Youth Pie" is not heavy enough; "The Beast of the South" is notable, but too many ways of telling also weaken the expression of its own lens language; "Les Miserables" is good, but it is not as good as the 25th anniversary of the stage play. version; "Escape from Tehran" is a bit too simple; as for "Love", I can't say it. Although the film is good, it is not the type I like. I think that Oscar, who is used to watching Hollywood blockbusters, will have some taste discomfort. I can't find anything wrong with this "Lincoln" alone.

In fact, historical films are not easy to make, because everything seems to have already been settled. Right and wrong, it seems that it has already been chewed by too many people. It is not easy to get out of all these frames and present a different work.
Regarding the Civil War, it was covered in history textbooks as early as the middle school era. And apart from a president who became famous for abolishing the black system and was assassinated after the victory of the war, what other possibilities could such a person have. If you are an interviewing reporter, you must ask him about his growth process, why he insists so much, and where is the biggest obstacle. It is a pity that we cannot face such a person who has passed away for more than 100 years again.

Speaking of which, according to what we say here, this can be regarded as a "patriotic" work, a "red" work. Probably we are unlikely to make such a movie, because there are too many constraints, because "the winner of the prince", and "the prince" is not allowed to make mistakes. I am afraid that such a "prince" can only be an imitated monkey.
A good movie must transcend national boundaries, and what makes it able to break down various secular barriers is probably only human nature itself. We are all born with very little genetic difference, other than skin color and language. This allows us to see the same things in different people. That's what makes this movie so valuable. It's about a man named Lincoln, not about every president of the United States, even though this one abolished slavery.
Even so, in this person, there are the usual troubles, as well as confusion and helplessness when faced with a choice.

In the face of more than four years of civil war, the number of casualties of hundreds of thousands of people and the lifelong efforts to abolish slavery, which is more important, the priorities among them, and the pressure of their children insisting on joining the army to go to the front line... He hesitated. As for the peace talks, the arrival of representatives from the South would undoubtedly undermine the resolution of the parliament, and the votes between the equals might make his life's efforts come to nothing in an instant. In the camera, it is his sleepless night. On the bed, in the office, mumbling something that no one else can fully grasp. He was asking himself, and the answer was not easy, and at the time, no one would know whether the decision was right or wrong. Like the amnesty for deserters in the military.
He has always been noble, but when this nobility is confronted with the dialogue with his children, he becomes powerless, and even turns from nobility to a kind of arrogance, and this kind of arrogance also makes his children insist on leaving him, Go to the front. Therefore, such a kind of nobility is especially powerless behind people. When he faced his wife, he just said that he was tired and had to take a break.

The meeting was agitated from beginning to end. When the votes were finally started, I, as a spectator, also broke my fingers in private and counted the ratio. Although I knew the result from history, I still couldn’t help thinking about it. Know how tiny this tiny victory really is.
Before I could calculate the result, I had expected to hear the cheers from the movie. Well, this bill passed. Except that they didn't really jump up like them, they must be in a somewhat similar mood. For a film to make people so engaged, it must be necessary for the director to have enough skill and the wonderful performance of the actors.

As for the ideal Lincoln had in mind, it was not so great. It's just "natural human rights, everyone is equal". It was his father's dislike of this system since he was a child, even if his father couldn't tell why he disliked it. Maybe it's just such a subtle, not explicitly given in the film, but it doesn't matter, at least it's better than having to give a seemingly "great" reason.
For history, perhaps we can only see it in the long river of time. Whether what we think is correct or not can only be verified after a few years or even a hundred years. Therefore, to describe a legendary hero who has been known for 500 years and has been known for 500 years, it is better to "restore" a hero who is related to us. The same people who are distressed in the face of choices.
This is real.

I wrote one book review and three movie reviews in one day. It's a bit confusing, so please mark it. By the way, this film is naturally also a strong contender for the best male protagonist and male supporting role, let's wait and see!

I don’t know if it’s because of my age. Spielberg didn’t surprise me from the war horse here. Even the three-win actor Daniel has always been known as one of the best actors. Who can replace Ben? He in the film? Perhaps only what he mentioned during the awards: "Lincoln originally wanted to choose Aunt May!"

Lincoln quotes

  • [Giving a speech at a dedication, Lincoln stands beside the flagpole, and with great ceremony takes off his hat, removes a piece of paper from inside and unfolds it, then puts on his glasses]

Abraham Lincoln: [reading] The part assigned to me is to raise the flag which, if there be no fault in the machinery, I will do. And, when up, it shall be for the people to keep it up.

[takes off his glasses and re-folds the paper]

    Abraham Lincoln: That's my speech.

    [laughter]

  • Abraham Lincoln: [greeting a pair of visitors from Jefferson City] I heard tell once of a Jefferson City lawyer who had a parrot that would wake him each morning crying out 'today's the day the world shall end as scripture has foretold'. And one day, the lawyer shot him for the sake of peace and quiet I presume, thus fulfilling, for the bird at least, his prophecy.

    [the guests don't laugh]
