My sympathy for the Bone Collector outweighs my hatred. The sad loneliness in the heart can't even escape death. Only by stripping away the flesh and blood and holding the bones, can you feel a little sincerity in the world. Although Rhyme has lost the ability to act, he has money and prestige, and everyone who knows or doesn't know him looks up to him with admiration, but he selfishly wants to die. And what about the bone collectors? Rhyme was freed from his mistakes, but he could only regret the choices he couldn't make, day after day, year after year, turning a victim into an abuser. Who's to blame? The bloody and weird basement may not be buried with bones, but the last bit of trust and warmth between people.

I watched it in the movie theater when I was a kid, and the sound effect scared me to sleep for a few days.

I find it's not easy to get to the level of the Seven Deadly Sins in this type of film.

The Bone Collector quotes

  • Lincoln Rhyme: How is your mother?

Eddie Ortiz: Oh, God, she's 76, and she's schtupping some guy named Morris. Can you believe it?

    Lincoln Rhyme: God bless her.

Eddie Ortiz: It's Morris I'm worried about. He's 76, with a tricky ticker and an active pecker.

  • Lincoln Rhyme: Just trust me. Just follow those instincts you were born with. I'll be with you... every step of the way.
