2. Looking at each story apart, the standards vary. The story of fighting to prevent bad guys from destroying nuclear reactors, and the story of escaping from the earth with the destruction of human civilization are all cliché Hollywood narratives. You can think of several movies with similar plots at the same time. The other stories are slightly better, but none of them surprised me. How can I surprise me? I think "The Matrix" has done it-it is a groundbreaking narrative about the virtual world. Perhaps the directors are also aware of this. The brightest one in the short story-the story of the cloned Xingmei, was creatively cloned from their own work "The Matrix".
3. The story and the story must be organically connected. The short stories in "Cloud Atlas" are isomorphic, and stories with the same central idea are repeated over and over again, so the progression of meaning cannot be regarded as a connection. There are two connections that I think are still organic: one is that the failure of the nuclear reactor destroyed human civilization, and then leads to the story of the destroyed barren land; the other is that Xingmei reveals and spreads the truth about enslavement, which makes her stay in the memory of surviving humans. , And over time, she became an idol, even a god. Other connections are more mechanical, nothing more than the letters of the characters in the previous story, which are read by the characters in the next story; or, a shirt button of the character in the previous story becomes the neck of the character in the next story. Decoration, and so on. As for the concept of reincarnation, it is not only because of Buddhism, but also because of the small skills to increase the correlation between the story and the story.
4. The story itself is mediocre, and relying on structure to make up is itself a risky move. "Cloud Atlas" is obviously not done well. If you delete one or two short stories and organize the remaining parts more delicately and intuitively, points may be added. Of course, if you can concentrate your pen and ink to tell a story to the extreme, it is the most brilliant.
4. Many people chanted how thoughtful "Cloud Atlas" is. I don't think it is too profoundly thoughtful. It can't be compared with "PI", nor can it be compared with many truly classic films. It means straightforward, simple, and slogan. After all, it is just a blockbuster, don't look deep in it, and don't blow it into a classic, enjoy the audiovisual effect.
