Gandhi

When people have nowhere to go, when they are humiliated and unable to resist, when people go into madness and lose their minds, he always brings people back to their senses. He didn't know he had this ability, and neither did we. But he did.
A sage is someone who can point out a clear way when people are desperate. What he gives is not comfort, not reward, but method.
The method he gave can make people see hope, restore peace, and rekindle their desire and love for life. And where does this seemingly miraculous method come from? Some say from wisdom? What kind of wisdom is this?
As Gandhi himself said, only truth and love can conquer all, always. This is his wisdom.
The human heart always has the weakest point, which is called conscience. I think Gandhi believed that human nature is inherently kind.

Big love is completed by his enemies. His biography is a compliment to his great life. Ben Kingsley is really amazing. Although Dai Lewis just ran a little trick, he is a lot fatter than he is now, but his ecstasy voice and domineering The leaky aura still betrayed him. This kind of film can make people feel the superiority of Oscar.

For a great soul like Gandhi, a straightforward narrative is enough to make a great movie, and all other sensationalities and processing are superfluous. The film is flat and straightforward, and it feels more objective in terms of perspective and narration, which is considered excellent in biopics. The only pity is that the film deliberately downplayed the religious elements in Gandhi and his movement, and his beliefs and practice had a profound impact on his movement, including India after that.

Gandhi quotes

  • Lord Irwin, Viceroy: Mr. Gandhi will find that it takes a great deal more than a pinch of salt to bring down the British Empire.

  • Edward R. Murrow: [at Gandhi's funeral] The object of this massive tribute died as he had always lived - a private man without wealth, without property, without official title or office. Mahatma Gandhi was not a commander of great armies nor ruler of vast lands. He could boast no scientific achievements or artistic gift. Yet men, governments and dignitaries from all over the world have joined hands today to pay homage to this little brown man in the loincloth who led his country to freedom. Pope Pius, the Archbishop of Canterbury, President Truman, Chiang Kai-shek, The Foreign Minister of Russia, the President of France... are among the millions here and abroad who have lamented his passing. In the words of General George C. Marshall, the American Secretary of State, "Mahatma Gandhi had become the spokesman for the conscience of mankind, a man who made humility and simple truth more powerful than empires." And Albert Einstein added, "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth."
