In the [cloud map], about the exquisite detail arrangement, clue setting, and the story behind the story.
It has been said a lot, so I won't repeat it.
I want to talk about the macro-level of human history that the film wants to express,
that is, the six nodes in human history, the past, the present, and the future.

Story 1, the slave liberation movement.
Story 2, homosexuality began to appear on the table.
Story 3, nuclear energy appears as a new energy source. (In Story 6, nuclear fusion began to be widely used)
Story 4, the aging of the social structure. (At the same time, it heralds the aging of the earth and the exhaustion of energy)
Story 5, the revolution of human cloning.
Story 6. Highly evolved technology and highly ancestral people exist at the same time, but both are facing extinction.

Throughout human history, the keywords are as follows:
human nature, equality, freedom, resistance;
energy, environment;
exploration, development, self-destruction.

From the sailing ship in Story 1 to the nuclear fusion-driven ship in Story 6,
human beings have advanced from exploration to advanced technological development, and
ultimately, because of the high level of destruction brought about by these advanced developments, they have
destroyed the planet they live in.
From the era of black slaves in story 1,
to the era of coexistence of highly technologically owned people and backward people returning to tribes in story 6.
This is the reincarnation of human beings from nothing to nothing.

But, after all, as long as there is freedom to resist the existence of the spirit (that birthmark),
human beings will still be human.

This is also the constant core of Wachowski’s films,
such as the "The Matrix" series, such as "V for Vendetta".
It's just that in "Cloud Atlas", "by the way" the entire human history is put in.
