"Cloud Picture": The Chronicle of Six in One

Six allegorical stories that take place in an overhead world but seem to be parallel universes go hand in hand. The clues overlap each other, and the emotional atmosphere is also triggered and moved by the whole body. It is so complicated and seemingly irrelevant. However, multiple events are entangled and interfered with each other around the same clear and vague philosophy. Such a film that is beyond the conventional narrative mode and seeks breakthroughs and innovations in the skills and depth of storytelling seems to be Tom Tykway, except for Christopher Nolan and David Lynch. It's a weird pair with sister Wachowski.
"Cloud Atlas" combines Tykway’s avant-garde and shiny narrative skills with the deep and cunning sci-fi concept of Wachowski’s sister and brother, so we saw Tom Hanks, Harry Berry, Hugo Weiwen, Ben Weixiao and others each play multiple roles, or one person plays multiple creatures. The exquisite makeup allows them to play different species, different ages, different skin colors, and even different genders in different time and space. This approach undoubtedly strengthens the viewing value of "Cloud Map" again, and it also conforms to the film's light and thorough theme of reincarnation like a cloud map. At the same time, the film excavated and enriched various potential clues in the novel, so that the themes of racism, political conspiracy, hidden dangers of science, social maladies, artistic speculation and even post-apocalyptic fantasy were firmly bound together. Small details such as names, tracks, birthmarks, etc. are also interspersed and reproduced in each story, and after all the clues are gathered, they work together toward the same proposition and emotion, leading to a strong resonance in the viewer's heart, and admiration and admiration. Therefore, appreciation of "Cloud Atlas" is a long and heartwarming process, always full of surprises and thoughts.
Regarding what point of view the movie wants to express, I believe that audiences who have read novels or watched movies can hardly express their understanding, because the structure of the whole work is too complex, the information is too rich, and even a little too rich. It is difficult for the audience to grasp every point in it, and in the end it also creates a fragmentary look and feel. As Roger Albert said, "Cloud Map" is by no means the kind of movie that can be done by watching it once, but it is definitely not a movie that can be done by watching multiple times. This film does have unlimited extension like a cloud map. And unpredictability, this is also the most interesting and most attractive place of "Cloud Atlas". It is like a modernist artwork. Everyone can point to it, but after communicating with each other, they will find their own one-sidedness and understanding. This is an open film that is truly worthy of careful study and play by critics and fans. Even though everyone knows that it has a clear theme that can no longer be clear, this is also the lead of "The Matrix" back then. The reason and charm of the riot at the end of the century is because it has the urge to tear it up and analyze it. As for the outcome, it is no longer the key.
"Cloud Atlas" helped the Wachowski brothers and sisters sweep away the stigma of "Speed Racer" and also helped Tykway's position in Hollywood. Although the film lost the Oscar nomination for best makeup, its reputation after the release was also serious. Polarization, but this does not affect the existence of "Cloud Atlas" as a masterpiece. A good movie is always accompanied by controversy, and a perfect gloss also needs time to polish. As for the position of "Cloud Atlas" in the future, I still dare not make any assertions here, but this magnificent set of life chronicles about destiny will continue to settle over time and take root in the long river of years.
