If that were the case, it would be an unattractive movie, and we'd just see an over-the-top actor and bottles of soy sauce labelled mediocre.
Until the killer starring Matthew Fox appeared on the screen.
In my opinion, it's a charismatic movie. The killer played by Ma Jiao has a cruel and extreme character, slaughtering women and children, and linking his family members. He is a pervert, but he has a radiant charm. In particular, this killer still has crazy artistic accomplishments, which makes people feel that he is not so much a pervert, but a kind of will, demon, blood drop-like outer door weapon.
Although contrary to common sense, my psychology is more inclined to the victory of this will than a stupid big man pretending to be smart.
Maybe the author also likes that pervert. Almost all the wonderful scenes are dedicated to this killer, and according to common sense, the battle between good and evil that should have been a climax also came to an abrupt end in a lukewarm manner.
It is said that this is an adaptation of a series of novels with Alex as the protagonist. If it can make a series, there must be something special about this guy. But the big black man in this film is only seen as "acting", and he is obviously not capable.
If there is a next episode, the main creator should spend some money to find Denzel Washington, not to mention that it can lift the movie a few steps.
