film is a new film that entered IMDB250 in June 2012. Because it was just released, I didn’t have the resources and subtitles when I first entered the list, so I had to wait. About a month ago, there was a Russian version of Bluray on the Internet, but there were still no subtitles, so I had to wait. Until now, in September, the US version of Bluray and subtitles are finally available online. So, after watching all the films of the Golden Horse Awards, I started to make up the new films of IMDB250 in the past few months.
The movie tells the love story of a pair of teenagers and girls. On a small island in the United States, there is a family living in a quiet town. The eldest daughter in the family is the heroine and has a bad relationship with her parents. A year ago, the heroine met the male protagonist who was an orphan, and the two became pen pals. So, after a year of correspondence, the two decided to elope. To this end, the male protagonist joined the Boy Scouts trained on this island. After the male and female protagonists met, the police, the Boy Scout instructors, and the heroine's parents on the island began to look for the two on a large scale, and the children of the Boy Scouts also joined them. The children of the Boy Scouts quickly found the hero and heroine. In order to escape, the two clashed with the children. A boy was injured and a dog was killed. After that, the hero and heroine had a sweet time on the island. However, the two were discovered the next day. The heroine was taken home by her parents, and the hero was staying at the police's house, waiting for the arrival of the social service staff the next day. In the evening, the children of the Boy Scouts decided to help the hero and heroine, so the children secretly rescued the two. At this time, the heroine's mother explained the relationship with the police officer who had an affair, and ended the relationship. In the morning, the protagonist and heroine were taken by the children to another small island. With the help of one of the children's cousins, they held a wedding and prepared to escape. Because the heroine forgot the telescope when the hero went back to take it, it attracted the attention of other people, so everyone came to catch them. At this time, the hurricane hit, and people fled to the church as a refuge. When the social service staff arrived, they had to forcibly take the actor away and prepared to send him to an orphanage, so the male and female leaders fled in a deserted corner. Finally, the male protagonist who lives in the police's house often comes to the female protagonist to have an affair.
This film is a somewhat surreal style movie, with a little fairy tale feel. Even so, the film still presents some serious problems, that is, through the experience of the hero and the heroine and the life of the heroine's parents, it shows the audience the unfortunate experience of children's growth and the impact of parents on the children's growth environment. This is the content of the film. In addition, the focus of the film is to emphasize the stylization of the picture. To put it simply, the excellent graphics, music and setting of the film are more attractive than the story of the film. So, from this point of view, the movie screen is a bit overwhelming, but this also reflects the personal characteristics of the director Wes Anderson.
There is nothing to say about the subject of the film. That is, a couple who are not very in love, because of their own reasons, the family environment lacks love for their children, making the heroine an unwelcome and lonely girl. The unfortunate experience of the male protagonist shows the lonely growth of the male protagonist and the indifference of social service agencies. In general, the viewpoints and themes of this film are not new. Although not a rehearsal, it lacks an eye-catching feeling.
What's great about this film is its very stylized shooting. In short, although this film is not a tribute film, but all parts are familiar, but the combination of the whole film makes the film style so unique and very personal. Therefore, this film is a good film, and one of the unnecessarily necessary conditions for a good film to satisfy my is "stimulating the senses".
Apart from that, there is nothing unique about the movie. And I still have a question. The old man who occasionally appears in the film is very magical. Does he exist in the real world?
The actors in this film behaved ordinary. Although the actor Jared Gilman has an Asian-like face, I don't like him, he is too weak, and the actor he plays is even weaker. Can a little boy like him roam in the mountains alone? The heroine Kara Hayward looks just like the young version of Jennifer Connelly, except that she is young and beautiful and makes her feel unique. It is estimated that she will be an ordinary woman when she matures. Like the male protagonist, the heroine she plays does not show any changes in her inner emotions and is very superficial. Except for the two small actors in the film, the other dragon sets are big-name stars and have won some awards. It's a pity that they are just a trick, and even big-name actors have to be the background, so there is nothing to say.
in conclusion. This is a movie with a relatively ordinary theme but a unique style. It can be called a movie, but it is still some distance from an excellent movie. In addition, it is a temporary choice to enter IMDB250, after a while, it will definitely fall off the list.
