Dad: You know, most people do not have the luxury of just picking up, and leaving it all behind, Daniel.
Father: You know, most people can not have her own bag stay away "luxury" Leave everything (responsibility) behind.
Daniel:. Well, I am not most people If I do not have your blessing, that's fine But do not judge this, do not judge me..
Daniel: I'm not that "most people", if you do not support I'm fine, just don't judge this practice and don't judge me.
Dad: My life here might seem like to much to you, but it's the life I choose. Dad: My life here might
be very different from yours , but it's the life I choose .
Daniel: You don't choose a life, dad. You live one.
Daniel: Life is not chosen, dad, life is lived.

"The Pilgrimage" opens with a well-earned dentist father who travels to France to claim the body of his son Daniel, who died unexpectedly during the trip. On a train in France, the father recalls the above conversation when he drove Daniel to the airport for a round-the-world trip . The collision between responsibility and freedom, mainstream and non-mainstream values, and life forms is actually interpreted in series in these short dialogues, which is reminiscent.

We come into this world with responsibilities of one kind or another, and there will be no absolute freedom. Some responsibilities are bigger, some responsibilities are smaller; some responsibilities are justifiable and some are inexplicable; some come from others, some come from myself... As an American father, when I say that Daniel leaves the responsibility behind, of course not to say that He does not pay the elderly pension, but refers to that he gave up his doctoral degree in preparation for a nonsensical round-the-world trip with no time limit. I was wondering if an old Chinese man said that his son was so "irresponsible", how many people around him would throw stones at this unfilial son, and this is only natural, because very few Chinese children rely on them after they enter college. My hard work earns tuition for myself to study, and after graduation, I expect my father to find a good job. How dare I put my backpack on and leave, and when my father is angry, you will come up with things like "Life is not a choice, but to live it out." Such a fallacy is simply self-defeating. Responsibility is a complicated thing, and sometimes the more you demand, the greater the responsibility, just like a favor.

As for public life, I used to angrily thought it was vulgar and boring, but now I feel that it doesn't matter. I even began to think that if we could, we should live the public life well, because it is still the life option with the highest voting rate. We did this accidentally. Choice, accidentally, has become so popular that we feel that we are alternative and non-mainstream after a week or two of traveling. There is nothing wrong with the alternative and non-mainstream, as long as the non-alternative and mainstream people don’t keep pointing fingers at them, the sad thing is that they do it all the time. It seems that a little bit of diversity in this society is corrupting customs and disrupting the order, especially for those Young people, it's just rude. Of course, the "non-mainstream" will not often take the initiative to shout bitterly at the "mainstream", because there have never been a minority in history who took the initiative to provoke trouble to the majority. As a result, the elderly have to restrain, the youth have to resist, back and forth endlessly, in the final analysis, the lack of understanding and tolerance.

Since then, life has become a topic, why do we live, how do we live, and how do we live?

As a dentist, old Daniel certainly thinks that his life is very good. He has his own clinic, a secretary, and he plays golf with friends when he is free. He is a representative of the upper middle class of society. And Daniel, Daniel didn't even take a year off to finish his Ph.D., he was not young, he had no job and no family, and his future was worrying. I finally lost my life on that road.

Old Daniel went to claim Daniel's body. After confirming it, he should have left for his home country, but unexpectedly decided to take the child's ashes to complete his son's unfinished journey. This is where the story of the film begins.

There have been many twists and turns on the way of the "pilgrimage road". After the urn was stolen, he was discouraged and ready to return home, but the lost items were miraculously returned intact; I went to a group of interesting friends; I originally planned to go to the end of the "pilgrimage road", but went to muxia because of a gypsy's proposal, and sprinkled his son's ashes into the sea... It's

not so much that old Daniel chose On this journey, it is better to say that he must go on this trip. As Daniel said, "life is not chosen, Dad, life is lived", but on the "pilgrimage road", old Daniel and Those friends of his probably really survived, otherwise, Daniel wouldn't have started a trip around the world as an elderly dentist ^^
