The movie is said to be a remake of a classic action movie of the same name, which I haven't seen. After watching this "The Mechanic", I personally feel that there is no deep meaning in the plot, mainly relying on Jason Statham's hot fighting to catch the eye, but because the action scenes are really exciting, I think it's okay.
The beginning of the film is handled well, and a scene where Arthur kills the target quickly attracts the audience's attention. Then Arthur's important friend and partner, the old man in a wheelchair, Harry appeared, and the two had a good talk, but soon Arthur found out that his next target was this old man. Arthur raised doubts but got Another boss, Dean's explanation. When Arthur called Harry, I think most viewers were like me and thought Arthur was here to save him, and Harry must have thought the same, or he wouldn't have done what Arthur said. However, when he came to the empty underground garage and saw his vandalized car, he realized: Arthur didn't want to save him, he was on a mission. Many viewers may have some doubts: Why didn't Arthur personally confirm Harry's innocence after receiving the assignment? Why didn't Harry tell Arthur the truth when he was killed? According to my personal understanding, throughout the whole movie, Arthur is just a professional killer, and he does not do the investigation and evidence collection; and Harry knows Arthur very well, he understands that once Arthur takes a shot, he will not stop it, and he will never stop it. He will believe his own defense, and he also knows very well that once Arthur knows that he has been tricked in the future, it is self-evident what will happen to the person who deceived him. So Harry fell under Arthur's gun with neither resistance nor explanation.
At this time, the second male lead in the film, Harry's son Steve, finally appeared. Personally, I feel that his appearance is a little abrupt. He, if Harry can be played when Harry is alive and show the contradiction between the two, in contrast to Steve's false hatred and true love for his father, I think the effect will be better. I really don't know what the director's purpose is in the scene where this young handsome guy smokes, drinks, and handjobs in the house. I can only explain that this is Steve's determination to make his way to the killer. After some consideration, Arthur took Steve as his apprentice, taught him various skills of the killer and demonstrated it in person in front of him. After that, the master arranged a task for the apprentice and gave detailed instructions on how to complete it. But Steve didn't listen to the advice and insisted on imitating the master. In the end, although he killed the big and three rough man, he was also beaten to death, but Arthur didn't say anything. The target started, and after they succeeded, they had to fight to the death with the opponent because of a small mistake. The two retreated with their very strong skills and returned to the base camp separately. Arthur accidentally met an agent he thought was dead on the road. After learning the truth, Arthur first killed the colleague who wanted to kill him, and then he and his apprentice cleanly solved the Dean faction at home. The hunter came. This is where the real climax of the film begins: Steve discovers his father's pistol at Arthur and deduces the truth, but still in an unusually hot battle as Arthur takes deadly revenge on Dean. After that, Steve eliminated the first enemy who killed his father. On the way out, Arthur stumbled across his father's pistol that Steve was wearing, and learned his thoughts from Steve's words: Revenge is his mission. Sure enough, Steve blew up Arthur's car with gasoline and bullets. Steve then returned to Arthur's house. Like Arthur, he opened the disc player that Arthur didn't let him touch before, and drove Arthur's classic car. This is when he found a piece of paper on the passenger seat with the words "Read this piece of paper." You are dead." The car exploded in an instant, and Arthur's home was reduced to ashes when the record ended. Of course, we all know that Arthur is impossible to die, and he embarked on a new journey after killing Steve after his close friend escaped danger.
The film's handling of Arthur's character is very unpredictable. It is said that he is ruthless, but he is true to Steve's training and care; it is said that he is affectionate and righteous, but he has killed Harry successively. Father and son. My personal tendency is to think that Arthur is cold-blooded. Just like the title of the film, Arthur treats all targets as machines without showing any sympathy, and he himself is just a killing machine, but he always maintains the killer's attitude Courage and vigilance, just like the phrase "victory favors those who are prepared" repeatedly appears in the film, so we know who will have the last laugh. For those fans of pure action movies, this movie is still well worth a watch.
