if not lost

The most wonderful line in "Insomnia" starring Al Pacino: "Do you know how easy it is to kill someone? The ultimate commandment not to kill, does not exist outside of our consciousness. I didn't murder her, I killed her. She
killed her, but that's how things ended." The person who said this was the criminal who was wanted for murder. The person listening to this is a veteran police officer who is hunting the criminal. However, the people who listened and talked probably had a little bit of the same feeling, because they both killed people who didn't want to kill and shouldn't, but formed an offensive and defensive alliance for roughly the same reason. The people who said it regarded Al Pacino's people on the same front, and even confided their inner fears and contradictions.
However, they are different people after all. At certain times and at certain places they may be the same people, with all the desires, fears, etc. of the world. When the same situation happens again, you can identify their biggest difference, some people always choose to eliminate, some people choose to atone for sin. As for eradication or redemption, it is not entirely due to details and evidence, but the most important thing is personal choice.
The final result shows the ultimate fate of mankind. When the fear in your heart is relieved, how are you going to leave?
"Don't lose your way!" Pacino told the policewoman.
If not lost, if.

    "Don't lose your principles."

  • Mireille 2022-03-24 09:01:19

Still a master of storytelling, the climax is repeated; to stick to your principles, you can't just try to quickly, otherwise you will lose your faith; then you will doubt yourself, and your inner strength will disappear. Don’t break through the principles that you have always adhered to. Once you break through, everything about yourself will be lost.

Insomnia quotes

  • Will Dormer: You shouldn't knock misdemeanors.

Ellie Burr: Oh, but it's small stuff. It gets so boring.

Will Dormer: It's all about small stuff. You know, small lies, small mistakes. People give themselves away, same in misdemeanors as they do on murder cases. It's just human nature. Aren't you gonna write that down?

  • Will Dormer: We better find out where this came from.

Ellie Burr: I tried. Mrs. Connell doesn't know, her friends didn't know.

Will Dormer: Have you tried the jewelry stores? Small things, remember? The second you're about to dismiss something, think about it. Look at it again.

Ellie Burr: Want me to write that down?

Will Dormer: No, I'll remember it.
