synopsis: The
film is set in a difficult period just after the Spanish Civil War, in the countryside of the Catania region, a boy named Andrew finds his father friend and his father in the forest son's body. Authorities put the charge on his father, and his loving mother took Andrew everywhere to beg for sympathy, including local celebrity Mrs. Manubens. In the end, the father was killed, but the childless Manubens family agreed to take Andrew so that he could continue school, earn a degree, and ease the burden on his mother.
Just when Andrew was hesitating whether to stay at home or go to Manubens' house, or flee with his cousin, he accidentally learned the truth of the incident. Mrs. Manusben's brother is a homosexual. In order to preserve the family's reputation many years ago, the Manusben family forced him to marry a woman and go to France. The older brother's gay lover, Petolivar, was castrated, led by Andrew's father and his friend Dionis, whose father died in the forest, as well as a group of villagers. Last year, Mrs. Manusben's brother died. In order to keep the property from being inherited by outsiders, Mrs. Manusben asked Dionys to steal her brother's marriage certificate, making the marriage invalid. And Dionis blackmailed Mrs. Manusburn, and was eventually hired by Mrs. Manusburn, Andrew's father, Fario, to kill him.
And Andrew's father did all this, the most important reason is to fulfill his son's wish - continue to study, so as to have the possibility of becoming a doctor. Andrew was confused, he chose to go to Manusben's house to continue his studies, and he had nothing to do with his parents.
Creation and Destruction
hasn't watched Spanish movies for a long time. I feel like I did it on purpose. I watched too much last year. During the Qingming Festival, I went to the "New Wave" near NTU. The boss even remembered me and quickly recommended Spanish movies. "Swept 9 awards including the 2011 Goya Award for Best Picture" - the cover of "Black Bread" has such a philistine phrase, but it works for me. I admit that I blindly adore the Goya Prize.
The tone of the whole film is dark, and it is no wonder that the film takes place in a special period just after the end of the Spanish Civil War. I have always felt that, to a certain extent, the destruction of the diversity of national thought by the Franco dictatorship in Spain and the Cultural Revolution in China is strikingly similar. In various international film awards, such films with historical reflection themes are particularly favored.
From the plot point of view, Andrew and his father's family relationship is the main line, but in the big context, social problems permeate everywhere, of course, including the father-son relationship. The father considered himself a righteous person, and he was a hero in his son's heart, but for the sake of his son's future, he also did a lot of dirty things. In the end, the son did not forgive his father, because in this special period when everyone only wanted to protect themselves, a simple child must grow into an adult full of scheming. At the end of the film, Andrew's mother gave Andrew something. His mother repeatedly emphasized that everything he had now was exchanged for his father's death. Andrew went back crying, but when his classmates asked who the woman was, Andrew But he wiped away his tears and said he was a fellow. Those tears were probably the last bit of Andrew's nostalgia for his parents, just like when his mother went back, walking alone in the passage of the corridor, her handkerchief fell off, and her mother's tears dried up.
For every boy, the existence of a father is a strong mountain, an idol, and a goal. Andrew used to believe that Petolivar was living in the mountains because of political persecution, because his father told him so, but when reality broke his father's lies little by little, trust began to be questioned, and the relationship between father and son was delicate. The change. The mountain fell, and the unshielded Andrew was angry. He killed all his father's beloved birds because his wishful trust was betrayed. All the good things my father ever created were destroyed in an instant.
For every father, the existence of a child is a small seedling on the top of the mountain. He will not shelter you from the wind and rain like a mother, but he will always accompany you and use his body to make you taller. Fario put Andrew first from the beginning to the end, it can be said that he gave everything for Andrew, but they lacked communication, and the son finally knew that the father sacrificed for his future, but the father came back He did not discuss it with his son, he did not let his son choose who is more important, to continue his studies so as to have a chance to become a doctor, or to continue to have a father who loves him. This necessary communication is often overlooked even in modern society. We think it is for the good of others, so we change other people's lives, but what others really need is not necessarily what you give. On the contrary, your kindness may become a burden for others.
Apart from this disturbing father-son relationship, Nulia, another special character in the movie, is also worthy of our appreciation. She is a girl who is always full of weird ideas. She is the person who trusts Andrew the most, but Andrew also violated the mutual agreement of the two in the end. You can trust anyone, but don't ask anyone to trust you, so you'd better not trust anyone. The existence of Nulia revealed the laws of survival in that special period.
And the boy running naked in the woods, I'm afraid it's Petolivar. Andrew also wanted to go with Petolivar after agreeing to Nulia's agreement, but was rejected. He said that Andrew flew too low, and he would one day fully spread his wings. Petolivar didn't trust people anymore, but he still hugged Andrew. Andrew also finally understood what Mrs. Manusburn said: his wings were not yet firm. He went to high school, maybe after many years of hard study, coupled with the primitive accumulation of capital, Andrew also became a celebrity a few years later. But that's all for a later story, and Andrew, who is now in front of us, is more likely to be Mrs. Manusburn II.
Because of the great changes in history, the remote small mountain villages will also change more or less. A few people are nothing in the majestic historical river, but it is all like this. big history. In a few years, other little men may destroy these, but then the history of the world will be richer.
