My watchbook: "Love of the Dead"

The version I watched should have been cut, only 100 minutes. As Nagisa Oshima's erotic masterpiece after "The World of Senses", the popular version does not have a picture that can match even close to the scale of the former, really accurate. However, in terms of plot, the film is obviously much richer, combining erotic and horror factors, telling an oriental version of the legend of Pan Jinlian and Ximen Qing. Of course, unlike the well-known story in China, the adulterer and prostitute in the film have real love for each other. Although it was initially sexual attraction, it did develop into true love later. Compared with the perverted and distorted sexual infatuation in "Sensual World", the hero and heroine of the film are obviously more likely to arouse the audience's sympathy.

Even children are a mysteriously aloof, isolated neurotic state. The music and art are better, and the plot of the foolish husband and the foolish woman is a bit slow. If Li Hanxiang came to film this story, it would be over in about half an hour. Stories of extramarital affairs such as Anna Karenina discuss the marriage system. The marriage system with an exit mechanism has made many people who would have been killed by love survive... If the sensory world is the internal destruction of cheating, then this film The movie is a struggle against the outside world, but in the end it is a dead end
