regret and loss

This film is a rather unfortunate film.
First of all, the director is very creative, but the film budget is insufficient: the number of actors is small, and there are basically no supporting roles; the world created is not grand enough; the special effects are qualified. This has led to a decline in the film's viewability, but it is still the most literary comic adaptation film to date.
The character of this film inherits the style of "Pan's Labyrinth" and has a "literary style". The machine is also very good.
The second half of the film has a "City in the Sky" feel, and it's all about lost ancient civilizations, the last heirs, and many of the same robots.
The original comics have many plots related to religion and mythology, with connotation and depth, not only for entertainment, but unfortunately it seems that there is no chance to make a movie now.
The film is a love tragedy.

It's a pity that the ideal man is like this. The screenwriter wasted film with constipation this time. Not to mention wasted the long-term development of a good character.

Losing the style of the first part, even the tone of the story has been timidly painted with that shiny golden layer.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army quotes

  • Johann Krauss: [as the destroyed Golden soldiers reform themselves] Well, I'm out of ideas.

    Hellboy: I've got one.

  • [about Johann]

Tom Manning: No fingerprints, no photos. But they say, and I'm translating, "he has a nice, open face."

[Johann's head turns out to be a clear, open bowl of glass]
