Some changes have been made to the restored version. Relying on the fact that I have recited the film so well, I will not turn over the disc. Let’s count the differences between the digital restoration version and the theater version and DVD version of that year.
1, the title of the film. The remastered version added the word "Classic" next to the title, but it wasn't necessary. The film itself is a classic, and it has been called out by word of mouth for so many years. Compared with the original version, the repaired version has a lot of unsatisfactory places. It claims to be a classic.
2, the title subtitles. The screenwriter column was originally "Zhang Tan, Situ Huizhuo", but now it has become "Tsui Hark, Zhang Tan, He Jiping". It's good to have He Jiping written in. Su Shuyang didn't write it in, isn't it bad?
3. Dubbing. This problem is more complicated, and it seems that all of them are reconfigured. It is said that Maggie Cheung's dubbing is still the original one, who is the best match and can hold the scene as soon as she speaks. Donnie Yen's dubbing may be a matter of my habit. The tone of voice is still the same as before, but it is much lower. The opening scene is not as lazy and treacherous as it was in the past, and I feel uncomfortable. The one who failed the most should be the one who dubbed Liu Xun. This movie was watched by Eunuch Jia! The thick and steady baritone voice could not find the feeling of a eunuch, and the original dumb smile was also changed, and it lost a lot of color. In general, the dubbing "drama" of the restored version is not as good as the original version, which is a pity.
4. Soundtrack. The new version of the soundtrack has changed the high-pitched suona into a soft flute-like instrument, which is quite weak. Over the years, I have the impression that the wonderful scene of the horse team marching under the snowy mountains and Cao Shaoqin chasing and killing three people with swords is accompanied by noisy strings and high-pitched suonas.
5. Some bloody images are gone. One is that Lu Xiaochuan was squeezed into the grinding plate, Eunuch Jia shouted "Xiaochuan", and Maggie Cheung used a scoop to pick up the blood. The scenes were gone, and a scoop of blood was poured directly on it. Second, the scene of beheading people with red silk hanging in the Brigitte Lin Inn is gone. The third is that Cao Shaoqin stabbed the Tartar with his long sword, and the scene of blood gushing out of the desert is gone (thank you Lu for the addition). The so-called bloody scenes that could be released in the 1990s are not dared to be released now. Really TM boring.
6. Some lines have been changed. Maggie Cheung's catchphrase "Fuck you" has been changed to "I'll fuck you"... Can you accept that the lady boss only scolded "I'll fuck you" when she found out that the guy who had confided in each other was dead, but didn't warmly greet others? I can't accept it anyway.
7. That sour song. I remember that the original lyrics were only "drink a bowl of wine to pee, the man in the desert loves Meijiao, my little brother loves Meijiao", but in this version I heard another lyric "I'm full and I'm on my way. Kang, the girls in the desert love Ge Zhuang, my little sister loves Ge Zhuang", very good.
After talking about what has been changed, let’s talk about what has not been changed. The editing error of Eunuch Jia joining the battle group twice has not changed. Two scenes that were originally available in the Hong Kong version but not in the mainland version have been added. One is Qiu Moyan worshipping God, and the other is Tartar taking children to the house to admire the moon.
There are many mistakes in the new version of the subtitles. I can't remember it now, but I only remember that one "big fat sheep on the dam" was written as "80% fat sheep", what is it!
I admit, probably because the original is so classic, those of us who have watched it over and over a dozen times have inevitably become fundamentalists, unable to accept even the slightest change. However, my rational conscience tells me that from Articles 3 to 6, the changes in dubbing, soundtrack, pictures and lines are unnecessary, and will only weaken the original plot and atmosphere.
Finally, a message to the post-85s and post-90s, this post is not for you to read. All these changes and not changes, only those of us who go to the cinema to watch Liu Xun will care about it. The various nuances caused by the above details are completely meaningless to you. It is business to go to the theater to support the strongest martial arts classics in history. After watching this movie, you can say without a guilty conscience, "We are also the ones who have seen real martial arts movies in theaters"!
