I love "Swordsman" very much, and my favorite is Mr. Jin Yong's original work, so I have always reserved my own opinions on this classic work with my own interpretation. But after reading it, I didn't feel any discomfort at all because it modified the original.
In the film, Linghu Chong set the tone for going into seclusion from the very beginning. He and his younger sister went to Yedian to meet up with the younger brothers, and then left the rivers and lakes to Niubei Mountain together.
The expression of this thought was vividly expressed on the eve of the undefeated battle between Ren Woxing and the East. Huashan sent everyone to sing "Swordsman" all night: "A laugh from the sea, the tide on both sides of the strait, the ups and downs follow the waves to remember the present..." They once regarded the sword of life as being used to chop garlic and roast chicken. Scenery, as if they will be able to put aside this bloody storm tomorrow, return to the countryside, and be free.
But the film borrows the words of Ren Wexing to point out a cruel fact, "There are people who have grievances and grievances, and there are rivers and lakes. People are rivers and lakes. How do you quit?" The first time he met Linghu Chong, he chopped up his horse and spilled his wine. This faintly reminds us that it is not so easy for Linghu Chong to retreat safely.
The most exciting part of this film is that it arranges a love affair between Dongfang Invincible and Linghu Chong. These two characters, who were originally men, were originally antagonists, but strangely because of the Sunflower Collection, it became a somewhat aesthetic encounter.
"If you want to practice the collection, you must first go to the palace." This is the point of the sunflower collection that satirizes the world. It is a peerless martial arts, but if you want to practice it, you must first give up the most precious dignity of being a man in a sense. However, because of this strange practice requirement, the film gave Dongfang Invincible the heart of a daughter, and he had a love for Linghu Chong.
Let's first take a look at a few fragments of Dongfang Invincible and Love Concubine Poems. At the beginning, Shishi asked him why he had to work for this ruthless world, and Dongfang Invincible replied: The country is so beautiful; later, when Shishi was shocked to realize that the Sunflower Collection had turned her beloved leader into someone she did not know. Man, she was so distracted that she wanted to destroy the Sunflower Collection, Dongfang Invincible sighed: Even you have to bear me; in the end, when Shishi took poison and waited for him to come back, Dongfang Invincible seemed to have tears in the corners of his eyes. The film reprocesses the Dongfang Invincible in the original book, making his original man more full of personality. He is by no means a ruthless and unrighteous person, but because of the so-called magic, he wrongly paid his infatuation to Linghu Chong.
What's more intriguing is that Linghu Chong also has a kind of friendship with Dongfang Invincible. Before Dongfang Invincible died, he kept asking him, was it you who spent the night with me? What is the importance of spending the night together? It's worth Linghu Chong asking over and over again. Some people say that among the four beautiful women in the film, only Shishi is ruthless to Linghu Chong, but she is precisely Linghu Chong's first woman, which is ironic. I didn't see the irony, but I saw an inexplicable persistence.
It is repeatedly mentioned in the film that "the world is better than my generation, and as soon as you enter the rivers and lakes, time will remind you. In the chat and laughter of Huangtu and hegemony, you can't beat life's drunkenness." The hero's emotion, the years are hurried, and Huangtu's hegemony is only for these people. It can be ashes in the chat and laugh. And what makes the hero sigh is time.
The ending also broke the happy rivers and lakes of Linghu Chong and Ren Yingying in the original book, and smiled proudly at the ending of their life, and chose to let Ren Yingying personally send Linghu Chong and the little sister to the boat and leave Fusang, but Yingying wanted to return the piano to Linghu Chong, but failed to deliver it in time. ferry. Yingying walked along the shore alone, watching the boat go away; at the same time, the theme song of the film "Just Remember This Day Laughs" sounded. This song is somewhat similar to "A Laugh in the Sea", but it has an unexpectedly joyful atmosphere. Look at the lyrics, "The white clouds are floating, the green water is shaking, the world is so carefree, the free wind, the free bird, the laughter of the present..." The melancholy that was obviously hurt and parted gradually disappeared in this bright song.
Looking back at the original work, "Swordsman" was born during the Cultural Revolution. Regarding the background setting of the story, Mr. Jin Yong wrote in his postscript: "Because what I want to write is some general characters and common phenomena in life, this book does not Historical context, which means that a similar scenario could have occurred in any dynasty."
Linghu Chong, the protagonist in the book, shows a free and unrestrained spirit. He has a straightforward temperament, and he likes the younger sister and treats her wholeheartedly; Tian Boguang, whom everyone spurns, regards him as a good friend; Ren Yingying carefully taught him the rhythm, and he respectfully calls him "mother-in-law". In his eyes, there are not so many distinctions between good and evil, and he has his own criteria for judgment.
His dashing nature was initially limited. He has a teacher, and he has been educated by a well-known and decent family since he was a child. After that, he was expelled from his teacher's door, and then discovered that his most respected master had done a disgraceful act. These unbearable facts made him tired step by step, forcing him to the end of retirement. When all his limitations are broken, his unrestrained unrestrainedness really shows.
If the original work reflects a certain state of mind of the author in that special era, Dongfang Invincible is by no means the protagonist, he is just a representative of a character, and is used to push the more prominent representative Ren Woxing to a climax. Linghu Chong is more likely to show the author's attitude, passively choosing to stay away from the torrent of the times.
In the film, the character of Dongfang Invincible is drawn in full, ruthless, affectionate, ambitious, infatuated, and the complexity of human nature is reflected in him; Linghu Chong's reason for seclusion is placed in a secondary position, when he and his younger sister left There are also some happy elements. Then only Ren Yingying is left with sadness and regret.
