【A-】Director's Cut. What a war movie this is, this is an excellent psychological thriller at all. This is the first time I watched a World War II film from a German perspective. Without the main theme output of the United States, without the madness of France against Germany, it is more real. Many places are more like "Dunkirk", the enemy never shows up, but it is everywhere; the oppressive environment, the small space, although the diver seems to have the protection of the submarine, it is safer than charging; but in fact, more of torture. Suffocated and tormented, an excellent underwater group portrait. The ending is simply a stroke of genius, and there is a sense of helplessness in fatalism.

The movie is very long, and I have watched it several times. This view directly affects the effect of watching the movie. The feeling of despair, fear, hesitation and confusion under the pressure of life and death is not so profound. Of course, I can't really feel it. For breaking through the predicament, rebirth from death The joy after that.

Captain of the 'Weser': So, what's it like down there, in a submarine?
Der Leitende: It's... quiet.
Captain of the 'Weser': Quiet? Hmm.

[Werner takes pictures of the watch officers on the conning tower]
Captain: Take pictures of the crew returning, not putting out to sea.
Lt. Werner: Why?
Captain: They'll have grown beards by then. It would shame the Tommies to see mere boys give them Hell. Baby faces. Ones that should still suck mama's breast.
[pause]
Captain: I feel ancient around these kids, like I'm on some Children's Crusade.
