"City of Souls"

I don't watch many sci-fi movies, so I don't know how the whole movie stands among sci-fi fans.

In the real society, thoughts and behaviors that are not understood by ordinary people are often classified as "mentally ill patients". Having seen such films, the protagonists who are not understood by ordinary people often imply a parallel worldview, which is also a common technique in science fiction films and literature.

The story is well-crafted and can justify itself; the overall production level of the film was not bad ten years ago; there are many well-known actors. Seems more involved. The full 2/3 is very engaging and the ending doesn't reach its climax.

Science fiction suspense CULT film. It's also dystopian. The world view is very similar to "The Matrix" and some settings are not inferior to it. But the narrative style is weird and obscure, and it lacks depth. I don't know what to say at the beginning, and the worldview is explained clearly only halfway through the movie. Let the audience know what the story is. So this is a failure. However, it is still a unique sci-fi film. Jennifer Connelly is so beautiful.

A good combination of film noir, sci-fi, ultimate philosophy, ideation, German expressionism (Dr. Caligari's Cabin). Many places have the same spirit as the Thirteen Degrees and The Matrix, and there is a sense of panic that the end of the Jubilee Judgment is coming at the end of the 20th century. The flustered party should also refer to this film on the back design. There is a part in Da Liu's Book of Songs that is very similar to the setting of the film.

Dark City quotes

  • John Murdoch: I was just thinking, what you do seems kind of dangerous right now. I mean, how do you know I'm not the killer?

May: I don't. Why, you feeling any urges I should know about?

  • John Murdoch: When was the last time you remember doing something during the day?

Inspector Frank Bumstead: What do you mean?

John Murdoch: I just mean during the day. Daylight. When was the last time you remember seeing it? And I'm not talking about some distant, half-forgotten childhood memory, I mean like yesterday. Last week. Can you come up with a single memory? You can't, can you? You know something, I don't think the sun even... exists... in this place. 'Cause I've been up for hours, and hours, and hours, and the night never ends here.
