"Another Dimension Killing Array": The Way Out - Not Just a Film Critic

After going around for so long, we finally came back to the same questions.

A friend asked me a long time ago about the meaning of life. I thought I would have an answer after a year or a half of delay. The truth is that the deeper I think, the less there is an answer. The pain we encounter is here. Too many people have given too many answers. People from various periods and fields tell us how to live is meaningful. The essence of their exploration is the same. Above the chaos and disorder of the fallen world, everything is sorted out and classified. Only in this way can evaluation and utilization be possible, and human control is fundamental.

The opposite aspect of secularism and philosophy and religion is that it sees the actual experience of human existence, but does not give information about the source and purpose of disasters, that is, where we come and where we are going. The poet's description of life only condenses the great tragedy contained in it with abstract words - we come from a piece of dust between heaven and earth, and return to a wisp of dust on a coffin - but we cannot unfold it, because life The whole driving force is not religious taboos, not rational ends, but some kind of mystery. Both peace and madness come from this, and what is called normal is probably the most abnormal.

What this means is that we have left the primitive life with strong mystical colors, and established human empires voluntarily or involuntarily. For the convenience of management, we have created a lot. Problems followed. No matter how thick the city walls were or how gorgeous the clothes were, we could never regain our original sense of security and natural state. I am not talking about the animal way of life in primitive times, but the nature, or essence, as opposed to camouflage. When people leave the self they once depended on and come to the society to seek shelter, they must give up their own principles and turn to the laws of society. Society is of course the result of individual contracts, but it is also the result of self-growth and even mutation. This transformation process will produce the pain of self-forgetfulness. However, it is getting farther and farther from the origin, and the road to return alone from the group is more and more thorny and thorny, and self-forgetfulness has become the most practical choice.

The theme of the film "Different Dimension Killing Array" is the way out. The world we live in is simulated by a different-dimensional space, and the trajectory of human activity is marked by a three-dimensional coordinate system. Inside this time and space, various dramas full of suspicion, conspiracy, wisdom and humanity are staged. I guess the person who wrote this script is either a philosopher or a religious scientist. Only these two kinds of people can briefly escape from the limitations of the world and rise to the height of God to watch human comedy. Of course there is a third possibility: he doesn't know what he wrote.

In a fallen world, we seek redemption with original sin and the mark of the Lord. After careful reading of the Bible, we probably know what kind of people can get on board. The biggest misunderstanding that needs to be clarified, however, is that this pass to heaven is not reserved for religious believers. After all, the church is founded by man, not by God. In a messianic sense, I tend to think that all people can be rescued in the end, and this human journey will become the past and memory of heaven, just as there is no hell without freedom, there can be no heaven with freedom, and without earth, there is no God to establish the kingdom of heaven meaning. Unfortunately, at the level of practical secular interests, we must take into account the purpose of politics and society, which is also the purpose of the church: without the threat of hell, human justice will not be heard. Everyone was rescued, and no one was rescued. This is the paradoxical understanding of religion.

After we leave the original state and realize the social establishment, we will forget ourselves and forget the self in the natural state. This is especially evident as the modern age approaches. What modernism brings is the subversion of tradition, which does not help us out of the predicament, but faces the pain of the old value system being attacked or even destroyed. This pain is based on our relentless pursuit of security, on our desire for a better world, on our desire to make this all meaningful. Postmodernism is a reflection on modern reflection, but it only raises the weaknesses of modernism without giving a better answer. So the modern people lost their homes and became the wandering generation. The positive effect of wandering is that it stimulates human creativity like never before. For a local who lives and works in peace and contentment, it is more conservative than aggressive. The comfortable life in every corner is always the oxidant of happiness, which makes us rust under the temptation and illusion of happiness, lose our motivation, and hate change. For a foreigner, this is an excellent opportunity to make a fortune. No real estate means nothing to worry about, and the destruction of his home creates an irresistible fluidity for him, a fluidity in the depths of life. Traits are the source of creativity and inspiration.

What cannot be ignored is that once this alien state begins, it cannot be easily ended. Some people can seize the opportunity to fly to the branches, and some people have nothing to rely on for life. Because when faced with external hardships, some people always seek external solutions, and some people choose internal solutions. In a way, this may be the so-called materialistic and idealistic battle, but I prefer to call it two different survival mode choices, and there are more than these two, they are just representative. The problem that arises here is that no matter which choice is made, there is a possibility that it will neither succeed nor see through, or neither be the righteous nor favor the power, struggling with many contradictions, the desire to integrate and the desire to deviate. Struggle, obedience and rebellion go hand in hand.

Where is the way out?

Maybe we spend our whole lives looking for it, and finally find that the way out is actually at the origin. Those who think they are worth a lot are eager to embark on an adventure, to prove their love for the world and their loyalty to life on the way, but they never try to understand the meaning of life, their loyalty is only under the whitewash of power. Cowardice and fear. Those who are eager to prove their meaning may be the least meaningful, and those who are always (being) doubted about meaning are the most likely carriers of meaning. This is also the interpretation given by the film. Many people may sigh when they see it at the end: it would be great if they didn't rush around in the first place.

But outside of the film, we should also know that if we stay put in the first place, there is a good chance that there is no way out, because it is never pursued. Whether you think you can see through it, or you are afraid of taking risks, or you don’t understand the purpose of this sinister world in chaos, staying in place means stopping the flow, which means that it will eventually freeze into a mystery. Such a person is more difficult to gain the approval of the world than a wicked person, because he refuses even to enter the evaluation system, standing far from good and evil, enslaved by the ease of the moment. From this level of understanding, the bad policeman in the film is not so bad. If it weren't for his self-righteousness and self-worth manifesting will, this group of people would not have such a deep understanding and fear of death, and would not have a strong sense of death. The will to live to stimulate all the creative enthusiasm, there will be no Descartes, the world will be much bleaker.

This mutual perfection and mutual transformation of good and evil has created an incomprehensible but interesting world. Whether it is God's will or something else, we don't know. In short, I have completely given up on the idea that man evolved from ape-man. Hypotheses, including the broader "water is the origin of all things". Science can give materialistic explanations, and it also provides the most solid conclusion to creationism: life can only come from life (Pasteur). I once suspected that belief would take away the possibility of observing life from multiple perspectives, so I wanted to reject it and welcome it. However, at present, the results of all considerations can only lead to the existence of God (a philosophical understanding, not a religious understanding). Because what the mystery is, we don't know. Atoms are quite empty, and the laws of the universe are too general. The key is that these are just matter, and what we want to know is the form, the soul of all this, and who provides it.

  • Quentin: Listen, we can't go climbing around in here.

    Holloway: Why not?

    Quentin: There's traps.

Holloway: What do you mean traps?

Quentin: Booby traps. I looked in the room down there, and something almost cut my head off.

  • Quentin: [talking to Holloway] You listen to me, woman. Every day I mop up after your bleeding heart. The only reason you even exist is because I keep you!. I know your type. No kids, no man to fuck you. So, you go around outraged, sticking your nose up other people's assholes. Sniffing their business.
