The film itself does not have much dialogue, but it is full of realism, and it guides the audience to enter a spiritual pilgrimage together. Whether you have been to the Holy Land in person, or just in your heart or mind, you will be shocked by the beautiful pictures in the film. All the scenery is so beautiful and natural, which makes people fascinated. And the OST of this movie is also very well done, especially when the group of four finally got together, coldplay's "Lost" sounded slowly, it was just right...
"Just because I'm losing, doesn't mean I'm lost, doesn't mean I'll stop, doesn't mean I will cross..." I

have to say, this movie is very similar to Zhang Yimou's "A Thousand Miles Riding Alone" a few years ago. The unsmiling dentist Tom, because his son was killed in an accident on a pilgrimage, packs a bag and completes the unfinished pilgrimage for his son.

The "Pilgrimage Road", that is, the road that Christians pass through during the pilgrimage, runs through the five autonomous regions of Aragon, Navarra, La Rioja, Castile and Leon, and Gasili in northern Spain. The end of the pilgrimage road of the old father Tom in this film is the "Santiago de Compostela Cathedral", which was built in 1078 and is known as one of the most beautiful buildings in history.

The son hopes to pursue his ideals, travel around the world, take a pilgrimage, and follow the footsteps of his predecessors; while the father hopes that his son can finish Doctor, find a good job, and live a down-to-earth life.
I wanted to be a bullfighter. My father wanted me to be a lawer. I became neither. Remember that old bullfighter in the Basque Country?
Yes, life is sometimes so nondescript, but we still have to learn to face it calmly, because no one can be sure which one is more noble and dignified to endure silently or stand up for resistance.
However, life is like this, ideal and reality, you have to make a choice after all...

On his pilgrimage, Old Tom met a lot of things, a lot of people...
In the process, he met three other pilgrims with different ideals. A fat Dutch man who wants to lose weight but can never stop eating, a middle-aged royal sister who wants to quit smoking but never forgets to smoke, and a neurotic Irish writer who wants to find inspiration for writing. Individuals
walk together for different ideals and set off towards Santiago... Although their goals are different, everyone who walks has a story they don't want to tell. Each of them is looking for their own redemption, looking for their choices in life...

If, at the beginning of the film, old Tom, who lost his beloved son, continued to move forward along the unfinished road of his son in order to find his son's heart, To give a word of comfort to my deceased son. So along the way, through hardships, old Tom found that everything he did was not only for his son, but also for himself...
Before, old Tom had always been proud of the life he had chosen, and criticized his son for it. . But through the pilgrimage, through what he saw and heard, and through his mental journey, old Tom suddenly realized...

Just like the beginning of the film, the son said to his father that meaningful sentence:
"You don't choose a life , you live one."
You didn't choose to live, you just lived...

We are always used to giving various meanings and purposes to our travels. However, at the end of each trip, we often fail to achieve our goals, but gain unexpected insights and joy.

The father embarked on his son's unfinished journey for spiritual sustenance. Originally, the healing card with the theme of bereavement was very interesting. Unfortunately, the film immediately became a mediocre running account after 20 minutes. Besides, the form was still monotonous. The beautiful scenery is not appreciated. The whole film is also instantly lifted when I think of the Coldplay song in the middle. ★★

    Doreen: And he did.
