multiple selection

I often suspect that I have selection disorder and don't know what to do when faced with multiple choices. If my colleagues decide to order afternoon tea, I usually stare at me and bite a pencil with my head tilted, or ask a colleague to directly say a number, and the number on the takeaway list corresponds to what I want. I am very puzzled by other people's "choosy": if I order pudding on Wednesday afternoon, it will become Friday, and if I drink red beans instead of frozen top oolong, can I skip the rest of the work? Why bother with these trivial things?

These things are not a single accident, I have some fatalistic ideas from a very young age. When I was still in high school, I conceived a novel, and it was a very grand work. At that time, I had no idea about the plot of the story, except that the structure of the story had been clearly arranged: it was a tree-like structure, and then different possibilities were derived from the protagonist's choices at different times to form branches. There are small contingencies along these different paths that cause the result to be the same no matter which path is initially chosen. No matter how hard he struggled, he finally found out that he was just Wukong in the palm of the hand of the Tathagata. Everything was already arranged, just like "The World of Truman". This idea has been stuck in my mind and could not be realized, because I can't find a suitable story, and I don't have the passion at that time.

It wasn't until I accidentally watched the film "Mr. Nobody" by Jacques van Dommel that I exclaimed: Isn't that what I thought! ? Of course, the director is much deeper than I imagined, in addition to the pigeon superstition (all I can think of is this), and the butterfly effect, string theory provides a sufficient theoretical basis for this sci-fi film.

The first is the proposal of string theory. The space we exist in (a world of length, width, height and irreversible time) is a possibility. What if time could be reversed? Will there be multiple parallel worlds? Can they exist at the same time? How then does it lead us into different parallel worlds? Is it our choice, or is it a macro butterfly effect? And if every karma is the right choice, is what we call cause really that important? Are the causes and actions we care about that lead to outcomes really that important? Are we the self-righteous pigeon?

These thoughts are narrated by the director through the memories of a last mortal living in 2092, and all this does not exist in this world, just a 9-year-old boy Nemo meditating when facing the divorce of his parents and not knowing what to choose. of. On this point alone, the director is playing tricks. Which one is true? What is this Nobody's life like?

Who did the boy Nemo choose when his parents divorced? If with his mother, when did he and Ana get together, in swimming lessons or because of his mother's boyfriend? After they separated, they finally got together after a long wait and search, but they didn't see each other because of "buying a pair of poor-quality jeans, causing a Brazilian unlucky to be unemployed and cooking eggs at home, causing a heavy rain in the United States, and making Ana's phone number unclear". Woolen cloth? If you choose to be with your father, do you choose Jean who loves him or Elise who loves him? After the confession to Elise was rejected, did Cyclonian motorcycle crash into a vegetative state and could no longer wake up, or did he turn to Jean who liked him? If he was with Jean, he would swear to be a successful man for revenge, but he didn't love his wife and couldn't find the meaning of life, so he finally decided to use a coin engraved with yes and no to help him choose. So he finally chose a bizarre road of no return and was mistakenly killed by the gangsters. If he chooses Elise, he may be in a car accident on the day of the wedding. Nemo survives and takes Elise's ashes to Mars in order to fulfill his promise. He meets Ana on Mars, and finally encounters a space meteor and dies; Together but unable to get her heart, Elise's severe depression leads her to run away from home and Nemo herself is killed in a car accident.

Regarding the final outcome of Nemo, there are also three possibilities (the boy Nemo said that most people can only see the past but not the future, and he can see it because the angel forgot to touch his upper lip when he was born) He may die at the age of 34 Car accident/shooting (so the old man wakes up insisting he's only 34); may live to be 118 ----- 2092 the universe starts to collapse and time goes backwards, so the future becomes the past, so he knows the past (aka future) (other dimensions become chaotic this year, so people living at this time can travel to other parallel worlds); may encounter a space meteor and die when returning to Mars to place Elise's ashes.

Which is the real one? Is it the past or the future? Is it possible for people to exist in different parallel worlds at the same time, and if so, can they travel freely between these parallel worlds? Facing the future reporter who will never die, the old man said that there is no right or wrong choice, and he does not regret having memories of other spaces.

But what if all this is out of our control? What happens if you don't stand still when faced with a confused chess game? Would the outcome have been different if Nemo had not chosen father or mother and had gone the other way?

But what's the point of entangled in these, since everything is uncontrollable, and all choices that seem to be "free will" are just God's dice, then enjoy it. We are just "Nobody" among all living beings. The little things in life, the joys and sorrows, are no longer normal to this world, but they are enough to determine a person's fate. Don't ask what the meaning of life is, the existence itself is the meaning.

Don't ask what flavor of milk tea can change time and work, and even if it does, so what? If it's red beans, enjoy it, and frozen top oolong is also good, why should you care whether it's the result of a coin toss or a number in someone's mouth? Just enjoy it!

For a man, falling in love can be miserable, being loved can be inspirational, and wrong love can be a disaster.

The concept of love in time and space, and the changing reality, reminds me of the web clips that have touched me for a long time: "The Adventures of Li Xianji" and "Old Boy"!
