Body of Lies - 7/10

The plot surrounding the Iraq War is really disgusting. The film, shot in a satirical tone of great Americanism, still feels a little hypocritical. It may be mixed with too many personal emotions. . . The highlight of this film is the two powerful male protagonists. Leonardo's performance is quite satisfactory, which is very reminiscent of the role of "Blood Diamond". Personally, I think Russell Crowe's performance is more in place, but it is a pity that there are too few scenes. I don't like the ending of the film, it feels a bit anticlimactic, and the explanation is not very sufficient. Ridley Scott pays too much attention to the appearance of the film. It is visually gorgeous but ignores many details. The theme of 'lie' is not very clear. Regret two.

Don't ask how good people can be so bad? Who told you that was the good guy? Again, there are no permanent friends, only permanent interests. Nothing is impossible for profit. The actors are so good...

William Monaghan's script is really good. Although it still has that kind of extreme American thinking, the story itself is relatively rigorous and full of tension; the confrontation of several protagonists is also really good, especially Mark Strong. But in such a theme, Lao Lei doesn't have much of himself in it, but just applies a point of view that has been repeatedly mentioned in similar films: "No one is clean in this stall."

Body of Lies quotes

  • Ed Hoffman: See, what's changed is that our allegedly unsophisticated enemy has caughten on to the factually unsophisticated truth - we're an easy target. We are an *easy* target. And our world as we know it is a lot simpler to put to an end than you might think. We take our foot off the throat of this enemy for one minute, and our world changes completely.

  • Roger Ferris: We are your friends. We're here to watch you, we are here to protect *you*.

Nizar: [exasperated] You can't even protect yourselves.
