Revisiting [Barber Todd] after a little bit of babbling

On a whim this weekend, I dragged down the 720P [Barber Todd] and looked at it again, and wrote a few notes.
1. Among the works of Bolton I have seen, [Barber Todd] is the darkest, most gothic, most disgusting and desperate to the end. Counting Bolton’s previous works, although [Edward Scissorhands] wears a gothic coat with a touch of sadness, it is actually a fairy tale full of whims and brilliant colors; [Charlie and the Chocolate Factory] is a certain A fairy tale similar to Zheng Yuanjie's "Black and Black and the Island of Honesty" that is very educational for children (this seems to be rare in Western film and television works); [Zombie Bride] is actually a naked Disney-style prince and princess Although the film was made by Warner; [Alice in Wonderland] Everyone said it was very commercial and 3D was badly done, so I won’t say much. Not counting [Barber Todd], the most gothic one should be [Droken Head Valley], suspense and horror, the protagonist has various fake fairies, but the story is arranged for the protagonist to defeat the headless knight and rescue the little beauty. The bright ending will finally come to light. In contrast, the barber pays more attention to taste, blood plasma, meat stirring, killing wives, and marrying adopted daughters, challenging the audience's physical endurance and psychological and moral bottom line in various ways.
2. The background of the story is arranged in Fleet Street in London is a very awesome setting (actually because the original opera is set in Fleet Street--), the foggy city of London is shrouded in clouds all day long, which symbolizes industrialization. The whole city is dressed up as a ghost town. The protagonist Todd’s barber shop is on the second floor, with a large skylight that can receive light from outside. Skylight is a symbol of holiness, implying that the protagonist believes that what he is doing is to enforce justice and maintain the peace of the universe, but the dense dark clouds outdoors tell everyone that the protagonist’s conscience has been blinded by the heart of revenge, and the color of good and evil has been Was reversed. The only bright tone in the film comes from Mrs. Loft’s YY. Because it is YY, we should allow it to be more beautiful (although Mr. Todd’s various mismatches in this YY), and the tragedy is to put the beautiful The destruction of things shows that Bolton did it, and Todd took advantage of Mrs. Loft's love for him, and Mrs. Loft was finally brought to death because of her love for Todd.
3. Pain and happiness, hate and love and madness. Good and evil coexist, love and hate intertwined. Poor people have their own hatreds. As far as this story is concerned, when the killing is given a reason, the killing has flesh and blood, but after the audience has seen flesh and blood, it does not mean that the killing is right. Therefore, the happy ending of the murderer is a successful revenge. The first gloom of the story lies in the fact that most of the characters failed to end well, which is in line with Bolton’s usual style and the tone of the story; the deeper gloom of the story lies in the fact that the protagonist Todd killed his wife by mistake and regrets it. The so-called murderer punishes the heart, so in the end, whether it was the kid or someone else stabbing him, it doesn't really matter anymore. To quote Kenjiro's famous saying: You are dead.
4. It is not recommended to watch while eating, and it is not recommended to watch with children's shoes who love truth, goodness and beauty.

My least favorite movie with T+J is actually Scissorhands. Helena is the only one who can rap... Depp, you better talk, and the AR part made me laugh to death, but the movement from squatting to getting up to stretch the razor is still amazing. Anthony's two big die really want to knock him

Wipe, I haven't read the comments before I read it, and I am totally unprepared. Baptized by heavy taste

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street quotes

  • Mrs. Lovett: So what are we gonna do about the boy?

    Sweeney Todd: Send him up!

Mrs. Lovett: No, Mr. T. Surely one's enough for today. Besides, I was thinking of hiring the lad to help me run the shop. Your poor knees aren't what they used to be.

    Sweeney Todd: All right.

Mrs. Lovett: Of course, we're gonna have to stock up on the gin. Boy's drinking like a sailor.

  • Judge Turpin: I have news for you, my friend. In order to shield her from the evils of this world, I have decided to marry my dear Johanna.

Beadle: Ah, sir, happy news indeed.

Judge Turpin: Strange, though, when I offered myself to her, she showed a certain reluctance.

Beadle: [sings] Excuse me, my lord. / May I request, my lord, / Permission, my lord, to speak? / Forgive me if I suggest, my lord, / You're looking less than your best, my lord, / There's powder upon your vest, my lord, / And stubble upon your cheek. / And ladies, my lord, are weak.

Judge Turpin: Stubble, you say? Perhaps I am a little overhasty in the morning.

Beadle: [sings] Fret not though, my lord, / I know a place, my lord, / A barber, my lord, of skill. / Thus armed with a shaven face, my lord, / Some eau de cologne to brace my lord / And musk to enhance the chase, my lord, / You'll dazzle the girl until...

    Judge Turpin: Until?

Beadle: [sings] She bows to your every will.
