"Cars 2": The drunkard's intention is not to drink

If the producer of "Cars 2" is not Pixar, but any other Hollywood film company, it should be said to be a high-level animation work. The reason why Pixar can establish the status of the undisputed hegemon of Hollywood animation is because of its unconventional creativity, profound humanistic care, and excellence in the details. However, these remarkable qualities are difficult to find clearly in "Cars 2", and are often replaced by mediocrity and clichés. It can be seen from this that it is not surprising that the film collided with "Transformers 3" in North America and was defeated like a mountain.

In fact, "Cars 2" is an insufficiently prepared animation work, especially in the script. First of all, the trailer "Dan Ya" took over the role of the protagonist of the lightning "McQueen", which directly led to the interpretation of the original racing battle into an inspirational car version of the bean agent. Of course, if you purely use the racing theme as a selling point, it will definitely be a little thin and empty, then adding a variety of condiments will be much more interesting. It's just that if you can't control a "degree" standard, it will make the theme of the drunkard not want to drink, and the audience will be distracted. Secondly, according to the story line of the film, there are too many scenes in the trailer die. It is not that I am tired of its endless cuteness and stupidity, but that it obviously weakens the interaction with other racing cars. The English name "Cars" and the Chinese name "Cars" all indicate that there will be many friendships with soy sauce and dragon tricks, so the camera should be more focused on these selfless "extras". This is also why Pixar has always been good at grasping the scene control of the group scenes in the film. With richer character elements and increased connotation, it can use many small characters to support the grand pattern. The "Toy Story" series is the best proof, and it is also the most proud masterpiece of Pixar.

This time, "Cars 2" shows the daily life of automobiles in a more macroscopic and meticulous manner than the first one, from necessities of life to the customs of major cities in the world, from trivial matters such as firewood, rice, oil and salt to transnational crimes, etc., all of which will be familiar to the audience. The world of humans is completely replaced by the world of cars. The surface packaging has a new look, and the essential living customs and humanistic atmosphere have not changed. This change of perspective makes people break away from the usual inertial thinking. The opening scene of good and evil wrestling is extremely vigorous, and there is no ambiguity in the car's performance of 007. After that, Pixar went further and further on the road of anthropomorphizing cars, and simply packaged the entire play as "Sherlock Holmes". The personification of the car is not as easy to operate as imagined. Pixar's design ideas in this regard are exquisite. The flexible use of various props allows the car to interpret the things that humans can and cannot do. This is also the "most Pixar" aspect of the whole film. As for the "least Pixar" place, it should be a gag. "Gags" are often one of the indispensable and important elements in animation works. Although they don't play a big role in the theme, they have little to do with the narrative, and some are even purely to expand the length of the film. However, Pixar's "gags" have always been at a relatively high level. There are very few funny arrangements for the sake of being funny, but they can often become the finishing touch of subsequent theme reveal, and even the sensational effect of tears in laughter. But in "Cars 2", the "gags" appear very bland and mediocre, with few bright spots. It can be seen that the level of polishing of this script really needs to be worked hard.

"Cars 2" is a kind of cushioning work under Pixar's weakness, after all, we can't ask each to maintain the standard of "Monsters, Inc." and other classics. But this is fundamentally different from the weakness of "Pirates of the Caribbean 4": the former is a creative trough under normal conditions, and the latter is purely a swindle of money. Of course, a rising star like Blue Sky Animation, which created the "Ice Age" series and "Rio Adventure", is still quite threatening to Pixar. Even Universal can tinker with Despicable Me. Pixar should really keep an eye on these fast-paced chasers, let's expect it to rise strong after its weakness.
