I thought that after watching this movie, I would be able to unsheath it once. I didn't expect my soul to swing out at the end of the film, but when Henry returned to prison, it was held back. For a moment, Henry's fear crept into my soul.
In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy was locked up for 2 months. That was the first time I knew what confinement was. That's what Morgan Freeman's voiceover says, the longest confinement he's ever known. Sure enough, when Andy came out again, he changed into a human form. But henry, my God, 3 years without sunshine, no time, no life, no physiology, no hope, no fun, every minute, every second is leaning, counting my breath, deep in fear. The devil would be afraid of such a space. Pity Henry, just want to live, not even a good life, just deal with it. Neither can. Live, be afraid.
Gary Oldman is as good as ever, but this time, it didn't catch my attention. When I was in school, I saw the dark walls all around and smashed my nose, and I thought it was funny; what happened to Henry was so scary.
Afraid.
