In 2029 AD, human beings went to other planets to develop in order to seek a larger living space. Astronaut Leo (Mark Wahlberg) is trying to find a better planet. He drives a space shuttle to explore the universe alone, but unfortunately gets lost in the interstellar space and crashes into the swamp jungle of an unknown planet. When he woke up, he realized that he had been surrounded by a group of apes, and was taken to the ape tribe deeper in the jungle, where he was locked up with other humans. Only then did Leo realize that this was a planet ruled by apes, and that humans had become For the second-class species, breaking the idea that humans have always thought they are the center of the universe.
During his captivity, Leo has had good interactions with other humans, and they plan to fight against the evil apes; on the other hand, Leo has also formed a relationship with some friendly apes who are convinced that humans and apes can coexist peacefully.
