"Chain Saw" and moral decline

Intermittently, I watched the seven films before and after "Saw Cry". In general, the shock of this movie is quite obvious. But "Saw Cry" is not a movie suitable for watching in a cinema. It is not so much a 7-part movie as a 7-episode series. The same is a limited-level bloody film, "Chain Saw" and "Reaper is coming" take a different route. "Death" seems to be a bit more convenient, because the plot structure of each Reaper is the same, but the second episode is opposite to the previous one. The episode has almost no plot dependence. And every one of Chainsaw from the second episode is inseparable from the plot of the first episode. The advantage of this is that the depth of the movie's meaning can be deeper with the continuous release of the 7-episode movies, but the original part is also very obvious. For those who have not watched the previous episodes, by the seventh episode, apart from the bloody and violent scenes, they may not understand the true meaning of the movie at all. I watched 7 movies in ten days, but this is still a bit difficult, and many plot clues have not been sorted out. The plot memory of the first few episodes is not very deep, which directly leads to the blurring of many highlights in the back.

After watching the 7 movies, let’s review it as a whole. I think that the main selling point of "Chain Saw", which has a bloody high-scoring movie as its main selling point, actually has three selling points.

The bloody scene

seems to be the number one reason why many movie sites recommend "Chain Saw". Indeed, the human flesh in the movie is almost always waxed, and it breaks with a poke, and it is bound to be accompanied by squeaking meat and gurgling blood. What impressed me most was the testee in the seventh episode. He took an ordinary iron hook and inserted it into his chest muscles at will. Then, relying on the support of the chest muscles, the protagonist just climbed several meters in the air. Such pictures are almost everywhere from the beginning to the end, from the first to the seventh. And you have to admire the imagination of the screenwriter comrades. There are dozens of ways to die in seven episodes. Not only are they not duplicated, but they all comply with the rules of the chainsaw method. That is to say, it is not simply self-mutilation or mutual mutilation to death, but in the process of mutilating the body, fighting against the heart or others. As long as you follow the rules of the game and are lucky enough, there is a possibility of surviving.

Although it is called Chainsaw Horror, there are actually various ways to die, such as burning, car crushing, poking eyes, headshots, cutting meat, enema... and the process of death is displayed on the screen at a glance. Today, when the threshold of "heavy taste" is getting higher and higher, Chainsaw Fright is still in a handful of positions in the bloody movie rankings.

Intricate plot

Of course, the bloody scene needs the cohesion of the plot, otherwise it will appear quite abrupt. The loser is like "The Human Skin Inn." Human Skin Inn’s treatment of bloody scenes only stays at the level of bloody and gore. Although the heavy-tasting scenes are equivalent to the chainsaw, there is only a single plot clue, which is particularly monotonous. The brilliance of the chainsaw is that even if there is no rendering of the big scene, its excitement does not diminish points. Although each episode is only about 90 minutes, the plot is compact and well-connected. Under the foreshadowing of the previous episode, the development of the plot becomes more exciting and unexpected.

The clues of the story are intricate and complicated. Generally, 3-4 main lines are separately presented. In the end, the main lines gather in one place and one time, leaving the most exciting plot of the whole show in the last ten minutes. In the last ten minutes, not only the mystery of this episode was solved, but also the foreshadowing of the shooting of the sequel was left behind. For example, John, the founder of Chainsaw, actually died in episode 3, but the game set before John's death lasted at least to episode 7, and will continue. After John's death, the appearance of the police chainsaw Hoffman was unexpected. When Hoffman broke the rules of the game and became a murderer, the new chainsaw turned out to be the tested doctor Gordon who escaped by chance in the first episode. Therefore, the electric saw 7 and the electric saw 1 realize the end-to-end correspondence, and smoothly throw the clues to the electric saw 8.

The profound meaning of

Hollywood’s awesomeness is that: an R-rated film like "Chain Saw" can also tell about the moral decline of the world, and it is not a shield to accuse the law. Why is it a cruel serial homicide to outsiders, but there will still be people obliged to join the chainsaw business? The problem is that the implementer of the chainsaw does not think that he will kill the tester, but instead gives them a chance of redemption. Those who do not grasp the opportunity will die. They are more willing to call it a game in which the tested person uses physical pain to redeem his moral decline. Because each tested person is carefully selected by the chainsaw, each of them has a dark side of their hearts. But the laws of a civilized society have not been able to punish them, even if they have been punished, they have not really made them feel good in their hearts. As a result, the chainsaws established a trial system independent of the actual judicial system.

The chainsaw anaesthetizes the suspect with a needle and takes it from one world to the trial stand of another world. In this new world, the judge and the suspect are often the same person, but the law based on the trial is the rules set by the chainsaw for this game. If you obey the laws of this world, you have the possibility of survival. Once you "break the law," you will undoubtedly die. It’s just that there are not many people who can finally pass the “game”. There are only two or three people in the movie. After these survivors returned to the real world, their attitude towards the chainsaw turned out to be "grateful." They are "reborn".

In fact, the chainsaw game is more like a nightmare for the tested person. In the dream, you can face your sins in real life. Once you are free from the sins, you can be free from the real sins. In the eyes of the chain saw designer, if you can't get rid of this nightmare, there is no need for the tested person to return to reality.

I recently saw a blog post about why the moral decline in Chinese society is so serious. The blogger’s analysis is that Chinese society lacks the social power of the people to save themselves, because the people are the basic soil for the generation of morals and ethics. The government will take care of all social services. The answer to the decline in morality lies in opening up the function of private hematopoiesis, and the government only needs to spend more energy on public services.

However, the current national conditions are that the government regards all civil forces as aliens, and fears that the strength of the confrontational forces threatens their own legitimacy. Therefore, small civil societies are in a state of marginal existence and have never been developed. This is also the crux of the difficult development of organizations such as One Foundation, house churches and many NGOs.

In the movie, the punishment system for moral judgment established by the chainsaws can be regarded as a self-generating force of the people, but this force is evil, extreme, and quite controversial. This is exactly a kind of irony of the movie's declining morality in reality, and the tested cannot even use the law as a shield for themselves. At the same time, it is also the launch of the main creative staff's disappointment in the real society. This is why the police always can't snipe the chainsaw in the movie.
