When I got the CD in the library and watched the casing, I would never have imagined that it was a movie about the return of Hong Kong in 1997. It was like a romantic affair between a Chinese girl and a foreigner. Indeed, the movie was about a heartbreaking love affair.
The love between a mainland girl and an Englishman is only as short as a few happy nights. They love each other so deeply that an Englishman can't marry a mainland girl. On the day of Hong Kong's handover, the British left her forever because of blood cancer, and disappeared in China, a land that already belongs to China, but left the mainland girl with endless love and the courage to be reborn.
After watching it, I couldn't help but ask myself how a Westerner could say such a good thing about this movie. It's a really good movie, I agree with it.
