Not a family, not a family.

This is a movie about struggle. There are always ups and downs in the struggle. Someone who falls is also the protagonist. Some people get first and others get second.

Like many people, I like Dicky, his free and easy way, his true temperament, his aura, including the last prodigal son who turned his head back.

I don't like my mother Alice, although she is the most powerful Fighter in this film. She once had so high hopes for Dick that she never gave up on him, as if she had made a bet with herself that her son would succeed, and then she kept working hard to prove it.
And she is obviously not so fair to Mick. In a sense, Mick is like a tool for her to prove. She is fulfilling his goal, but she is fulfilling her own obsession.

At the last game, people were excited, and even their hands were shaking. Mick must win, because this is not a game for him alone, it is a game for this family of fighters. He fought for his girlfriend and for his brother. At this moment, I think he is also a warrior.

The scene where Dic finds Micky's girlfriend is very touching. Everyone is a mess, everyone's life has been messed up, but they still have to go on and live bravely.
Do not evade, do not abandon yourself, it is called a fighter.

  • Mickey Ward: I'm the one fighting, okay? Not you, not you, and not you.

  • Wolfie: This ain't any anti-Cambodian thing. White people do this to other white people, which is what makes the world go around.
