If you do a survey and ask people who have only seen the movie trailers to choose the most suitable movie for Valentine's Day, most of them may choose "Will Love". Director Yibai's open-ended plot setting is really a highlight of the film. After all, there are too many possibilities for love-related memories. However, it was not until I watched "Fatal Companion" that I understood why a film classified as a plot/suspense/thriller chose a schedule to confront "Love" head-on.
Elise, an undercover agent, falls in love with financial slick (criminal) Alexander. In order to avoid being wanted by the police and pursued by gangsters, alexander went to Brazil for plastic surgery and has not heard from him for more than two years. Until one day, he sent an express to Elise.
Two people who have loved each other deeply, appreciate each other by more than just looks. Especially women to men. alexander played a trick and asked elise to pick a man similar to him on the train. Elise picked frank (alexander's identity after plastic surgery). Maybe it was because Frank happened to be sitting opposite the single vacant seat, but I prefer to believe that it was Frank's alexander-like temperament that made Elise make the choice. That temperament may be a look.
Maybe, alexander had guessed Elise's identity as an agent before the plastic surgery, but he didn't expose her. Maybe he thought that would only bring their relationship to an end. After the plastic surgery, alexander designed a drama, a drama that only people who love each other can integrate into.
It is not denied that there is also a tacit understanding among close friends, but that kind of tacit understanding that does not require guidance will only manifest itself in those who have loved deeply. After two years, Elise, who doesn't like being instructed to act, obeys the letter from alexander; with just a few words, Elise sees through the playboy who accosted him at the dance; at dinner, alexander (pretending to be Frank) ) subtly reminded Elise of the meaning of the double-sided head portrait to her; Elise, who was forced to death by the gang leader (who was actually called Sean), guessed that Alexander's safe with money was behind the double-faced head portrait.
When alexander who had plastic surgery into frank asked elise if she loved him, she didn't hesitate and said she loved him; and when he asked her if she loved alexander, elise said she still loved alexander. Fortunately, alexander is frank, and frank is alexander. At this moment, I no longer doubt that Elise loves only alexander, otherwise she would not be able to choose frank on the train.
Dressed in the cloak of plot/suspense/horror, every step of the development of the film's plot is inseparable from the love between two people and the tacit understanding born of love. That kind of love doesn't change when someone changes their appearance or their identity changes.
"Deadly Companion", released the day before Valentine's Day, just in time~
