'Big Bad': Just want to be the focus

A person, from childhood to adulthood, from birth to death, will constantly experience the transition of roles as the living environment changes. Life is constantly giving everyone the changing scenery along the way, but in fact, there are many hard-to-change factors implanted in their bones. These factors, interacting with the surrounding environment, manipulate each person's life direction, encounters, and more. It sounds a bit fateful, but before there is a major turning point, this will become a huge burden on everyone's life, and they have to move forward.

As a cartoon "Super Villain", the first half of the film tells the story of two alien visitors, who are good and bad, who grew up on earth and have been fighting against each other. I like the first half of this story, because it clearly tells about ordinary people who are ordinary people like ants, trying hard to be recognized, but repeatedly screwing things up, and at the same time, the other one is superior everywhere, from the school days. People who have been plastered with little red stars from the beginning have attracted everyone's attention. They can only stay in the corner of the wall time and time again that no one else can see. It is superfluous and dispensable. A wonderful gift from the star holding the moon. But in the end, there is still a restless factor in my heart, "If you can't be famous for eternity, you will have to stink for thousands of years."

This kind of opposite approach is full of helplessness. On the surface, it is wanton sabotage, but when I am sent to prison again and again for punishment, for myself, this kind of "attention" is more or less the same. A kind of self-soothing. In the logic of animated films, such practices and ideas are very simple and cute. From small fights in kindergarten to big battles in the city in adulthood, it is nothing more than to become the focus of attention of teachers, classmates and citizens. "Supermind" really did it, and what he did in exchange for 88 life sentences and thousands of years in prison. He enjoys this process, but has he really grown up?

"Super Mind" finally eliminated the nemesis "City Man", and the days without an opponent were deserted. He even wanted to blow up the Metropolis Museum, not because of hatred, but because it was too sad to see the statue of Metropolis. His mournful monologue shows how lost he is to lose his opponent, but listen to the tactics he's prepared to deal with the urban man: Fool Ray, Typhoon Cheese, Sheep Robot... This grown-up super villain, deep down, has actually always been with him. The confrontation of the urban man is regarded as a game that can be repeated over and over again, which may be the only important thing in his life. So it's not hard to understand that he's going to create another opponent next, one who can keep sending him to prison. In fact, if this newly created opponent is not too violent to enslave the city and kill Roshan, the "supermind" would probably end up in the game of "cops and thieves" for the rest of their lives. However, such logic does not exist on the big screen, especially an animated film.

Looking at it another way, the "super-mind" after the elimination of the "urban man" really began to grow, began to have his love, began to understand the possible harm caused by breaking the order, and began to abandon those game ideas and have their own responsibility. . A "super villain" who began to survive in the adult world, the world's eyes have changed, but the cuteness in his bones seems to have faded. At the end of the story, the "super brain" finally became the focus, the dream came true, the friendship was strong, and the love was unexpectedly harvested. I personally think that this is just a closed ending given to the story by the screenwriter. If you put aside the movie, most people's lives are still in the state shown in the first 30 minutes of the movie, even if your heart is not restless. With a purely child-like "fighting spirit", life will be more dull and boring.

A grown up world will no longer have Peter Pan. Get attention, become the focus, there are too many real fetters, after all, it is a fairy tale. If there is a silly friend like a "servant" who will never leave you, it will be the most beautiful fairy tale in this bleak world.

Megamind quotes

  • Megamind: [catches up with Roxanne] I can explain!... What about everything you just said, about judging a book by its cover?

Roxanne Ritchi: Well, let's take a look at the contents then, shall we? You destroyed Metro Man, you took over the city, and now you've actually got me to care about you! Why are you so evil? Tricking me? What could you possibly hope to gain?

[Megamind looks up at Roxanne sadly]

Roxanne Ritchi: ...Wait a minute. Ohhh... I don't believe this! Do you really think I that would ever be with you?

    Megamind: [whispers] ... No.

  • [Titan hurls a skyscraper]

    Roxanne Ritchi: What's the plan?

Megamind: Well, it mostly involves NOT DYING!

Roxanne Ritchi: I like that plan!
