This film completely subverts the unforgettable and amiable appearance of Santa Claus in the hearts of everyone in the past, and set off a bloody storm on the traditional Christmas Eve.
In fact, as early as the 1970s and 1980s, there were different types of anti-Christmas films, because the audience's aesthetic attitude was no longer limited to traditional Christmas films, but basically all anti-Christmas films did not dare to completely subvert the concept in people's hearts. 2003's "Bad Santa" is regarded as one of the more successful films of this type, but it is still selling dog meat. In the final analysis, it is still a comedy film. It's the unlucky bastard in a red padded jacket and dressed as Santa Claus. Or other films, in the name of Christmas, in fact, you can't see Santa Claus in the whole film, just use the name of Christmas to commit some crimes.
For the first time now, the director of the film has defied tradition and told the dark and dark side of Santa Claus in the old Finnish legend. Santa Claus is deliberately demonized at the hands of the young Finnish director, ghastly bony, with a scruffy and filthy beard and gray beard. As for the reindeer mount, it became the victim of the massacre in the movie. In the hearts of Finnish children, Santa Claus is no longer the endorsement of kindness and gifts. This film completely turns Santa Claus into a bloodthirsty and evil monster.
And the Santa Claus in the concept we have formed now is the protagonist who slowly domesticates it after subduing it and transforms it into a kind-hearted face before it can be exported to all parts of the world.
The film ditched the light-hearted humor of the usual Christmas movies in favor of thriller fantasy and dark humor. In the icy world, the vague small village has always been under the shadow of the mountains, creating a sense of depression that increases the isolation and helplessness of the protagonists. On the other hand, the movie uses Santa Claus to dig holes everywhere, kill bloodthirsty, and eventually lead to human revenge. It clearly tells us that the behavior of over-exploiting nature is bound to be abandoned by nature. Although there are many works of this kind of metaphor, they are usually some mutant creatures, such as the Korean "Cannibal Pig". The film uses Santa Claus as the theme, which is itself a reflection of humor.
The creativity of the film itself and the connection of the story are highly praised. The director is also directing a feature-length work for the first time, which is a success in itself. This film is a unique landscape of the 2010 film.
