Warm Christmas movie

A typical Christmas romance. Although it can't be compared with "Love First", it is also a big production, with big names gathered.

At the beginning of the film, the focus is on Kate Winslet. The full of unrequited love is written on the face, and the performance is good. I believe that every woman who has been in love can understand and express it. I used to have a general impression of her, but after "The Reader" and this film, it has changed, especially this film. In this film, she lives in a small farmhouse outside London. Because of the pain of unrequited love, she decides to exchange houses with Cameron Diaz, a stranger in the United States, to spend Christmas for peace. They found love for each other in each other's hometowns. I don't feel too much about Cameron Diaz, so I won't make more comments, but I'm pretty good in this film.

The two protagonists are very different. One is Ju De Law, Man Over Flowers, who has fascinated countless women, but I believe that almost no men will like him. In this film, his oily glib is somewhat restrained, but his essential temperament is still difficult to conceal. His object is Cameron Diaz, and their meeting started with sex, which is different from the other pair. Since I don't have any feelings for actors, I don't think much about this pair, except for Ju De Law's two lovely loli daughters. Playing opposite Kate Winslet is Fat Jack Black, obviously not the type of male lead in most romance films. The first time I met him was as an ambitious photographer in "King Kong", and he left a deep impression on him beyond the hero. A person who is not good-looking can be famous, and it must be full of charm in other aspects. Jack Black's humor in this film is my favorite character.

Because the story of Kate Winslet and Jack Black takes place in Los Angeles, and Jack is engaged in film music creation, they are inseparable from the film, which also shows the director's love for the film industry. Kate visited the old screenwriter for the first time, talked about Cary Grant, saw the Oscar statuette on the table, and sighed 'oh my god'. I don't know if Kate Winslet, who hadn't got the golden statue at the time, was very emotional. Jack recommended a series of old movies with excellent music to Kate in the video store, and hummed the theme melody of each movie with his unique style, "Carriage of Fire", "Driving for Miss Daisy", "Troubled Times" "Beautiful Woman", "Jaws", "Church", when humming "The Graduate", Dustin Hoffman actually made a cameo in person.

There is also an important character in this story, the 90-year-old old screenwriter, representing the prosperous years of Hollywood in the past. Kate asked him if Hollywood was as good as we thought it would be? He replied, it's even more exciting than you think! Pride and memories are written on the face, while also blooming with the boundless glamour and appeal of Hollywood. Jack Black created a theme melody for him and Kate, which can be said to be another highlight of the film. One is low and slow but sonorous and powerful, and the other is gentle and elegant but clear and beautiful. It can be said that these two characters are well interpreted, which also shows that this film is indeed very professional.

Three of the four characters each have an ex-boyfriend (girlfriend), and naturally they are not things. Kate's ex-boyfriend looks a bit like Ju De Law, and Jack Black's ex-girlfriend looks good. Lindsay Lohan also has a cameo in the film in a unique way.

Also worth mentioning is the placement of advertisements in the film. It is also an implanted advertisement. This film is much more natural than many domestic films. After all, they are based on the principle of not harming the quality.

All in all, this film is a warm Christmas love movie. Although it didn't bring me much emotion, I still felt a touch of warmth. First-rate romance films such as True Love First, Sunrise and Sunset Series, Roman Holiday, and Ghostly Love are naturally five-star reviews, but second-rate romances such as this film and Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, I have been struggling with whether Three or four stars. In order to distinguish it from third-rate movies such as Untouchable Lovers, Fate and Destiny, etc., it is better to give it four stars.

The Holiday quotes

  • Miles: [reaching across Iris to grab something on counter] Okay, sorry about that.

    [pregnant pause]

    Miles: Boob graze.

[Iris briefly surprised, then burst into merry laughter, with Miles joining in with a chuckle]

    Miles: That was accidental.

    [gazing around with sheepish smile]

Miles: Accidental boob graze. I'm sorry.

    Iris: Change of subject.

    [trying to restrain laughter]

    Miles: Okay.

  • Jasper: You know what I was thinking? When you get back to London, maybe we could sneak off somewhere together. Maybe Venice. You and me in Venice could be good.

Iris: Do you mean that? I mean, are you free to do that?

Jasper: Darling, I've just traveled halfway across the world to see you, haven't I?

Iris: [Iris & Jasper almost kiss before Iris pulls away] Yeah, that doesn't exactly answer my question. So, are you not with Sarah anymore? I mean, is that what you've come here to tell me?

Jasper: I wish you could just accept knowing how confused I am about all this.

Iris: Okay, let me translate that. So, you are still engaged to be married?

    Jasper: Yes, but, I mean...

    Iris: Oh, my God.

[Iris gets up from the couch]

Iris: This was a really close call. You know, I never really though I'd say this, literally never, but I think you were absolutely right about us. Very square peg, very round hole.

    Jasper: You cannot mean that.

Iris: The great thing is I actually do. And I'm about three years late in telling you this, but nevertheless I need to say it. Jasper. Wait, I need the lights on. Jasper, you have never treated me right. Ever.

    Jasper: Oh, babe.

Iris: Shush. You broke my heart. And you acted like somehow it was my fault, my misunderstanding, and I was too in love with you to ever be mad at you, so I just punished myself! For years! But you waltzing in here on my lovely Christmas holiday, and telling me that you don't want to lose me whilst you're about to get MARRIED, somehow newly entitles me to say, it's over. This - This twisted, toxic THING between us, is finally finished! I'm miraculously done being in love with you! Ha! I've got a life to start living.

[Picks up Jasper's jacket, walking to the door]

Iris: And you're not going to be in it.

    Jasper: Darling.

Iris: Now I've got somewhere really important to be, and you have got to get the hell out.

    [Opens the door]

    Iris: Now!

Jasper: What exactly has got into you?

    Iris: I don't know.

    [Pushes Jasper out the door]

Iris: But I think what I've got is something slightly resembling, gumption.

[Slams door shut in Jasper's face. Lifts hands up and screams with joy]
